Blount Delivers Vessels
The 165 x 45-ft. 300 ST Class cargo/passenger ferry, M/V Cayo Largo built by Blount Boats, Inc. for the Puerto Rico and Municipal Islands Maritime Authority was accepted for delivery to Fajardo, Puerto Rico on July 23. The Cayo Largo will also deliver the 45x17-ft. M/V La Plena, also built by Blount Boats. The M/V La Plena is being shipped as cargo on the M/V Cayo Largo, which will be arriving in San Juan on Sunday, August 3, 2008.
M/V Cayo Largo is powered by four Detroit Diesel 12V4000 M60 engines totaling 7,

Bertholf Commissioned
The Northrop Grumman-built National Security Cutter USCGC Bertholf was commissioned on the U.S. Coast Guard's birthday, becoming the service's most capable and technologically-advanced maritime asset in its 218-year existence.
"I know firsthand that the ship we commission today will be the
most capable ship that the Coast Guard has ever sailed," said Rep.
Elijah Cummings from Maryland's seventh district. "Hopefully our
children will look back on this day of Aug.

Pearl Seas Ship in Outfitting
Pearl Seas Cruises’ first ship, which was launched in March, is in its outfitting stage. “It is progressing with over 150 people working on the ship daily at Irving Shipbuilding in Halifax, Nova Scotia” said Vice President Tim Beebe. The joiner work and the electrical installation are being completed at this time. The cruise line plans to announce the ship’s name on Thursday August 14th. Pearl Seas Cruises expects the first ship to be delivered in the first quarter of 2009.

Tanker Company Coats with Intersleek 900
A second Aframax tanker belonging to Mumbai-based Mercator Lines, the 105,000 dwt Prem Divya, has been coated with International Paint’s foul release coating, Intersleek 900. The move comes just nine months after sistership Prem Pride had her vertical sides coated with the latest generation patented fluoropolymer at Dubai Drydocks World. This time though, the hull upgrade of the ‘Prem Divya’ involved the entire underwater area of the 1998-built vessel during the tanker’s second special survey.
