Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö Sells M/S Birka Stockholm Ship for €38M
Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö, a Finnish shipping company providing passenger and cargo ferry services, has agreed to sell the M/S Birka Stockholm cruise ship to Rederi AB Gotland.
ABB S2S System for Color Line Ferry
ABB, a global provider of power and energy solutions, is to supply a complete Shore to Ship Power (S2S) system to Color Line’s ro-pax ferry, SuperSpeed1. The 34,231 tons gross SuperSpeed1, built by Aker Finnyards at Rauma in Finland, has been in service on the Kristiansand – Hitshals route since 2008 and is the third Color Line vessel to be equipped with ABB’s system, after the Color Magic and Color Fantasy.
Estonian Port Buys Icebreaker
Port of Tallinn signs the purchasing agreement for icebreaker 'MSV Botnica'. The 50 million euro agreement is with the Finnish shipping company Arctia for the outright purchase of the icebreaking vessel. MSV Botnica is a multipurpose icebreaker built in 1998 by Aker Finnyards in Rauma, Finland. Her ice class is ICE-10, length (LOA) is 97.3 and beam 24.3 metres. The maximum speed of MSV Botnica is 16.5 knots in open water; she can maintain a speed of 8 knots in ice up to 80cm thickness.
