SCHOTTEL Launches Retractable Rim Thruster
German propulsion specialist SCHOTTEL launched a newly developed variant of its rim thruster (SRT). Covering the power range up to 500 kW, the new retractable rim thruster (SRT-R) offers low noise emissions and tailor-made solutions for a wide range of applications. Optimized by computational fluid dynamics (CFD), the internal propeller blades are hydrodynamically designed to be highly resistant to cavitation.The SRT-R is able to cover a thrust radius of 360 degrees.

Within its overall plan is using and regularly testing Emerald Marine Products' ALERT Man-Overboard System. The ALERT system consists of a water-activated transmitter worn on a lifejacket and a receiver installed in a wheelhouse.

When the āAIDAcaraā is heading out to Copenhagen at around 5 p.m. today, October 2, Kielās cruise shipping season will find its preliminary finish for the current year. Preliminary, as one more ship will again be welcomed in December on its Advent Cruise. So, Port of Kiel saw 128 calls by 22 different cruise ships with a total tonnage of more than 7.8 million GT. More than 360,000 passengers embarked or disembarked.
