Ulstein Designed Aegir Wins KVNR Award
Heerema Marine Contractors’ new Deepwater Construction Vessel Aegir, a customized Ulstein SOC 5000 design developed by Ulstein Sea of Solutions, won the Dutch KVNR Shipping Award. KVNR is the Dutch Association of Ship Owners. Designed by Ulstein Sea of Solutions, a design and development company in Ulstein Group, the state-of-the-art vessel is designed for worldwide operations and suited for executing complex infrastructure and pipeline projects in ultra-deep water.
HMC’s Aegir Arrives in the Netherlands
Heerema Marine Contractor’s new Deepwater Construction Vessel Aegir arrived in Rotterdam’s Caland Canal after a journey of almost two months from the DSME shipyard in Okpo, South Korea where it was built. The 210m long and 46.2m wide vessel will move to the Huisman yard in Schiedam in April where the pipelay equipment will be installed. Aegir is scheduled to start work on its first installation project (Anadarko Lucius) in the Gulf of Mexico in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Ulstein Design for Heerema
After having developed the concept and basic design for Heerema’s new monohull vessel, Ulstein Group´s Dutch based design company, Ulstein Sea of Solutions (USOS), has now also been awarded the further engineering of the vessel with the selected shipyard, DSME of South Korea. In February 2010, USOS was contracted by Heerema to design their new deepwater construction vessel, for which an LOI was signed between Heerema and DSME mid July 2010.
