Nor-Shipping 2009 Defies Economic Downturn

Nor-Shipping 2009 was the largest in the event’s history, dating back to 1967. 1105 exhibitors from 52 countries participated. By comparison, Nor-Shipping 2007, which took place in the midst of a market boom, had 830 exhibitors from 42 countries.

Donjon Continues Work in Gibraltar

Donjon Marine continues work on a contract awarded on March 24, 2009 for the wreck removal and disposal of the remnants of the M/V Fedra, which grounded and partially sank during a storm in October. On May 25, 2009, Donjon commenced site operations and with support from local subcontractors, performed vessel remediation as well as pre-cutting portions of the remaining deck house, stack and decking in preparation of the arrival of Donjon’s main wreck removal flotilla and salvage crew. more


Submarines Move to Electronic Nav Charting

The Navy's Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) certified a significant milestone in the submarine force's transition to electronic charting by approving version 8.3 of the Voyage Management System (VMS) for use aboard attack and guided-missile submarines June 9.

For submarine installations VMS is tested and certified by engineers from Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Port Hueneme, Virginia Beach detachment. This latest software version

New Ultra-Luxury Vessel, Seaborne Odyssey

The Yachts of Seabourn launched Seabourn Odyssey from Venice as the first ultra-luxury vessel to debut in six years. The 32,000-ton vessel built by T. Mariotti of Genoa, Italy, accommodates 450 guests in 225 luxury suites, ninety percent with verandas, offering one of the highest space-per-guest ratios in the industry with highly personalized service.
