56,000 DWT Bulk Carrier Delivered

Thursday, March 27, 2008
Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. completed and delivered a 56,000 dwt type bulk carrier M.V. Windsor Adventure (MES Hull NO. 1666) at its Tamano Works on March 26, 2008 to Keymax Maritime Co. Ltd./Fairmont Shipping. This is the 72nd ship of the “Mitsui 56” Series, a series which feature cargo hold space in excess of 70,000 cu. m.
In total, more than 130 units of this series have been ordered to MES.
According to the shipbuilder, the vessel has larger cargo hold capacity (of 70,700 cu. m.) and deadweight (of 56,000 tons) than conventional handy-max type bulk carriers. It has five (5) cargo holds and four (4) cranes for handling cargo. In order to load various kinds of cargo, the vessel is designed to have enough strength of tank top of cargo holds and to be suitable for efficient cargo handling. The size of hatch cover is the largest for this type of vessel in terms of both length and width; and each cargo hold has a sufficient clear length in order to load long pipes.
The main engine is the latest Mitsui-MAN B&W Diesel Engine 6S50MCC, which is a light, compact and high output engine satisfying the Environment Standards for Exhaust Gas. It has marginal output to keep enough speed (at normal service output = 75% maximum continuous output), achieving the optimum matching at normal service output.
