New Trawler for Argentine Owner
The port of Mar del Plata, located about 400 km south of Buenos Aires, has a long history as a center for commercial fishing. (www.mardelplata.com/puerto/banquina_eng.asp ) The shipyard Astillero Mar del Plata has recently added another fishing vessel to the extensive fleet operating from the port. Built to a local design, ATMAR FB-20, the new trawler is 20.82 by 6.4-meters with a molded depth of 3.15 meters. The vessel has accommodation for up to 12 crew members and a hold capacity for 80 tons of fish.

Power for the vessel is provided by a Cummins KTA19-M3 delivering 600 HP at 1800 RPM to a ZF W650 marine gear. A 6CTA8.3 liter engine and a 4B3.9 liter engine provide auxiliary power. Dicumar, the Argentinean distributor for Cummins products, supplied the engines. Named the BP San Jorge I, the new vessel was delivered to her owners BP San Jorge SA on January 26, 2008.
