New Webasto Air Heaters for the Marine Market

Friday, June 19, 2009
Webasto is introducing an updated and improved version of its air heater line to the marine market. Called the Air Top Evo, the new heaters feature a multi-function control panel incorporating multiple heating modes. The new features not only make the heating systems more convenient to use, but more environmentally friendly as well.

The new heaters have four alternative operational modes that provide more operating flexibility and better performance. These operational modes are: Energy-Efficient (which reduces electrical load); Normal; Plus (extra heating warms up the interior of the vehicle more quickly); and Ventilation (helps to cool the air more rapidly in a cabin that has become hot). An easy-to-use, multifunctional panel controls the operation. All Webasto Air Top heaters are designed to operate with diesel fuel.

When operating in Plus mode with nearly 19,000 btu/hr, the range-topping Air Top Evo 5500 consumes a mere 0.17 gallons of fuel per hour. When operating in Vent mode, the system provides air circulation with no consumption of fuel, for instance, and in Eco mode, Webasto’s air heater is also more economical in its use of power from the vessel’s battery.

Two versions of the new heater will be offered: Air Top Evo 3900 provides a heat output of 1.5 to 3.9 kW, (5118 to 13,307 btu/hr) and Air Top Evo 5500 provides a heat output of 1.5 to 5.5 kW (5118 to 18767 btu/hr). The existing Air Top 2000 ST model that provides 0.9 to 2.0 kW (3071 to 6824 btu/hr) will continue unchanged.
