Bollinger Returns after Gustav

Bollinger Shipyards returns 95 percent of its 14 locations back to work following Hurricane Gustav's plowing through the heart of the based shipyard community. According to Bollinger’s website, all but two locations are back up and running, with several locations on generators with supervisory staff only. The corporate office, located in , is on generators and is coordinating the efforts of the 3000 member workforce. Bollinger is working with the local and state authorities to insure the safe return of their employees and shipyard services to the Oil and Gas community, said Robert Socha, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing. We are communicating with our employees over the web, via local radio, telephone and community interaction. Effective Friday, September 5, 2008 the following Bollinger facilities are open: Bollinger Calcasieu Repair, Bollinger Algiers, Bollinger Quick Repair, Bollinger Larose, Bollinger Lockport Corporate, Bollinger Morgan City, Bollinger Amelia Repair, Bollinger Fourchon, Bollinger Texas City. Bollinger Lockport Machine Shop will reopen Friday, September 5th. Bollinger Lockport Repair and Bollinger Lockport New Construction are still without power, but supervisors should report to work on Friday, September 5th. Bollinger Marine Fabricators and Bollinger Gretna Machine are still not fully operational, but essential personnel should report as directed by the facility manager.


Global To Open Offshore HQ

Global Industries will significantly expand its capacity to meet operators' deepwater and reel pipelay needs in the Gulf of Mexico this December with the opening of its 625-acre offshore construction headquarters in Carlyss, La. Chosen because of its location along the 40 ft. (12.1 m) deep Calcasieu Ship Channel - the site is capable of supporting Global's deepwater fleet - and includes a pipe assembly rack that measure more than half a mile long.


Dick Bollinger Passes Away

Dick Bollinger — President Emeritus of Bollinger Shipyards-- died at home surrounded by his loving family.   Richard N. Bollinger died at home on January 17, 2012 of natural causes.  He was President of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. from his graduation from LSU in mechanical engineering in 1950 until his retirement in 2003, and remained President Emeritus and Director Emeritus of the company until his death

Bollinger Delivers 55K BBL Tank Barge

Lockport, La., Bollinger Marine Fabricators, L.L.C., a Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. company, has delivered the M 6000, a 55,000 barrel (bbl) Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA’90) compliant tank barge, to Midstream Fuel Service, L.L.C., a wholly owned subsidiary of Martin Resource Management Corporation.  Contract terms and conditions were not disclosed. The 55,000 bbl tank barge, M 6000, was built at Bollinger Marine Fabricators, L.L.C., in Amelia, La. and is a Bollinger design

No. 264, a double hull 60,000 BBL oil tank barge built to meet the requirements of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA’90) to Bouchard Ocean Services, Inc., Melville, N.Y. Barge B. No. 264 is a manned ocean, clean oil tank barge measuring 350-ft long, with a 70-ft beam and a depth of 25-ft


Bollinger Receives Safety Award from SCA

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. was awarded the 2010 Award for Excellence in Safety by the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA). The award was presented during the association’s April 5, 2011 general membership meeting held in Washington, D.C.  The Award for Excellence in Safety is given to member companies who have an end-of-year Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) that is below the average SCA rate.
