TDI-Brooks' Retrofitted Vessel Arrives to US for Offshore Wind Work

TDI-Brooks' latest dynamic positioning vessel, the RV Nautilus, has reached the shores of the East Coast of the United States ahead of work for offshore wind sector.After undergoing a six-month retrofit in Las Palmas, the 2000-built vessel will be put to work to provide support for offshore wind projects and various other subsea needs.With the length of 75-meters, the DP2 vessel is equipped with advanced technology, including a Geomil Manta-200 CPT that can be deployed through the mid-ship moonpool.The system can penetrate the soil up to 40-50 meters…

U.S. Gulf of Mexico: Injured Crewmember Medevaced from Dive Support Vessel

The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced an injured crewmember from a dive support vessel about 17 miles south of Pecan Island, Louisiana, on Friday evening.Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders were notified at 8:15 p.m. Friday that a male crewmember in his 30s, aboard the dive support vessel Ms. Kerci, reportedly sustained severe injuries to the leg. Mermaid Subsea Services Buys 50% Stake in Offshore Construction Vessel Millennium 3

Thai-based offshore services company Mermaid Subsea Services has agreed to buy a 50% ownership share in the Millennium 3 offshore construction vessel from PT David Marine for $16 million.The Millennium 3 is a DP2 construction support vessel built in 2011 in Indonesia by Nantong Dongjiang Shipyard Co. Ltd. and is currently operating in the Persian Gulf. Classified by Bureau Veritas, the ship is flagged under the state of Comoros, with Moroni listed as its port of registration. DOF's Skandi Achiever DSV to Stay with Petrobras Until 4Q 2022

Norwegian offshore vessel operator DOF Subsea has won more work in Brazil with Petrobras.After a recent three-year contract secured for a pipelay support vessel duo co-owned with TechnipFMC, DOF Subsea said Thursday it had secured a contract extension with Petrobras for the diving support vessel Skandi Achiever.The extension will see the Skandi Achiever stay with Petrobras until the fourth quarter of 2022, providing ROV and diving services until the fourth quarter of 2022. DOF did not share the financial details.Built in 2007, the Skandi Achiever is 105.9 meters long and can accommodate 100 persons, and features an 18 men saturated diving system.The vessel has a 4.2 x 4.2-meter moonpool, and an ROV hangar of 137 square meters.TechnipFMC Says Vessel Contract with Petrobras 'Significant'

SGS Acquires UWC and GDS

Subsea Global Solutions (SGS), a commercial diving company, has announced that it has acquired Underwater Contractors Pte. Ltd. (UWC), a prominent commercial diving firm based in Singapore, and Gray Diving Services Pty. Ltd. (GDS), a commercial diving firm based in Sydney, Australia, through separate transactions. With these two tandem acquisitions, SGS expands its global footprint in the Asia-Pacific region beyond Busan, South Korea, where it had a local office for the last 7 years and increases the number of its home ports worldwide to 13.

ASI Marine Adds Falcon ROV

UAE Shipyard Begins Operations as Albwardy Damen

Albwardy Marine Engineering and Damen Shipyards Sharjah have officially brought both brands together under one umbrella. Under the new name, Albwardy Damen, the United Arab Emirates-based shipyard will continue to construct newbuild steel and aluminum vessels as well as provide the same ship repair services to its marine and oil and gas customers in the Middle East. Albwardy Marine Engineering was founded in 1978 and has been a joint venture with Damen Shipyards Group since 2008. In 2014 the official opening of Damen Shipyards Sharjah took place.

Damen Bags Jack-up Pontoon Contract

Damen Shipyards Sharjah (DSS) in the United Arab Emirates has won a contract to build a shallow draught, self-propelled Jack-up Pontoon 3526 for the UAE-based contractor Aqua Diving Services Ltd. Once delivered, it will be used primarily to deliver offshore support services, including the provision of accommodation facilities for personnel as well as operating as a work platform with crane facilities. Aqua Diving Services (ADS) has specifically designed the Jack-up for Middle East operations and is closely cooperating with Damen Shipyards Sharjah for the construction of the unit. The jack-up, which will be named the Aqua Rise III and will have accommodation for up to 128 personnel with a 350m² of deck space and two cranes, rated at 75 and 15 tonnes respectively.

Abu Dhabi Ports Marine Subsidiary Rebranded as SAFEEN

Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of ports and Khalifa Industrial Zone (Kizad) in the Emirate, has renamed its subsidiary, Abu Dhabi Marine Services, as ‘SAFEEN’ –meaning ships in Arabic- in a bid to rebrand itself. The announcement was followed closely by the brand winning the prestigious International Safety Management (ISM) certification from the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Further, as part of expanding its fleet and improving services, SAFEEN  has added a new tug boat named ‘MAQTAA’ to its existing fleet of five tugs, five pilot boats, six  speed boats, one buoy maintenance boat and two oil spill response boats. The company plans to acquire three more tug boats by the end of 2016.

Ardent Earns ISO 9001:2015 Certification

Moller-Maersk’s Svitzer Salvage and Crowley’s Titan Salvage, has been issued the ISO 9001:2015 Certification for its Quality Management System for Preparedness, Emergency Response, Wreck Removal, Decommissioning, and Diving Services by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance. The ISO 9001: 2015 sets criteria for a quality management system, and evaluates organizations with their management approaches and customer focus. “I am very satisfied, and proud that we accomplished this in such a short time.

Neptune Awarded Kitan Contract

Neptune has been awarded an air diving services contract by Technip Oceania Pty Ltd (“Technip”) for the Kitan disconnection project. The project is offshore in February and includes the provision of air diving services to assist with the disconnection and abandonment of risers, mooring chains and the umbilical from the Glas Dowr FPSO in the Joint Development Petroleum Area (JDPA). Neptune will perform the services from the Crest Hydra DP2 Dive Support Vessel (DSV). Neptune Chief Executive Officer, Robin King, said “this is the second diving contract awarded to Neptune by Technip in recent months and we are pleased to continue to support Technip in the execution of their projects.”

Fugro Extends Contract with McDermott

Fugro has been awarded a three-year extension to its existing contracts with McDermott Middle East, Inc. The contract covers the provision of survey, positioning, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and diving services in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, India and Saudi Arabia. Engineering and construction company McDermott currently operates two major work barges in the region as well as a large number of other support vessels. The agreement continues a long and successful relationship that dates back more than 35 years, since Fugro and McDermott started operations in the Middle East.

DOF Subsea Awarded IRM Contract

DOF Subsea announced today it has been awarded a Letter of Award (LOA) with an unnamed major international oil company in the Asia Pacific region.   According to DOF Subsea, the LOA is for a seven-year IRM contract (plus three-year option), and the vessel Skandi Hawk is planned to be utilized under the contract. The work scope includes project management and engineering, ROV and diving services.   As part of a contract award, the vessel Skandi Hawk will be sold from DOF Rederi AS to DOF Subsea Rederi AS.
