Centerline Logistics acquired Saltchuk Marine Services’ California ship refueling business, currently operated by subsidiary Foss Maritime Company. Lindsay‐Blee, Master Fuel Partner in Colombia

Marine fuel company Lindsay‐Blee said Wednesday it has entered into an exclusive marketing and distribution agreement with Master Fuel SAS of Cartagena, Colombia.Effective immediately, under the agreement Lindsay‐Blee will manage the sales and marketing of marine fuel products produced by Master Fuel for the Colombian market, including VLSFO (0.50% sulphur max,) HSFO 380 cst, and MGO LS (Max sulphur 0.10%.) All products will conform to ISO standards and are composed from lower‐sulphur straight‐run fuels.

In 1992, Bouchard Transportation faced new challenges resulting from the newly enacted Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA 90). Now headed by the fourth-generation Morton S. Bouchard III (Morton S Bouchard Jr.’s son), BTC once again leads the industry as the first company to build several new 138,000 barrel double hull barges, along with technologically advanced 6,140 horsepower tugboats to move these 400+ foot barges. As of 2018, BTC’s B. No. 245 is the first double hull barge of this kind ever built, which is larger than 250,000 barrels.

Today’s ATB play seemingly has legs for the long haul, as operators build and market needs fluctuate. The refined product trades are always in flux. Similarly, the supply patterns for products (and for chemicals derived from oil refining) are subject to constant change. At the same time, the distribution of refined petroleum products sees great benefit from the efficiency of Articulated Tug Barges (ATBs), which have the flexibility to adjust to dynamic supply programs between refineries and myriad distribution facilities dotting the coastline. It wasn’t always like that.

Bollinger Delivers 15th FRC to U.S. Coast Guard

Bollinger Shipyards has delivered the JOSEPH NAPIER, the 15th Fast Response Cutter (FRC) to the United States Coast Guard. The announcement was made by Bollinger’s President & C.E.O., Ben Bordelon. “We are very pleased to announce the delivery of the latest FRC built by Bollinger Shipyards, the JOSEPH NAPIER, to the 7th Coast Guard District in Puerto Rico. The 154 foot patrol craft JOSEPH NAPIER is the 15th vessel in the Coast Guard's Sentinel-class FRC program. To build the FRC, Bollinger used a proven, in-service parent craft design based on the Damen Stan Patrol Boat 4708. It has a flank speed of 28 knots, state of the art command, control, communications and computer technology, and a stern launch system for the vessel’s 26 foot cutter boat.

Bollinger Advances in $10 Billion OPC Program

Bollinger Wins 8th Consecutive SCA Safety Award

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. was awarded the 2012 “Award for Excellence in Safety” by the Shipbuilders Council of America for the eighth consecutive year. On April 11, 2013, The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) presented the “Award for Excellence in Safety” to Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. during the association’s Spring General Membership Meeting in Washington, DC. The Award for Excellence in Safety is given to member companies with the lowest Total Recordable Incident Rates (TRIR) based on a quarterly injury and illness survey conducted by the association.

Bollinger Delivers 55,000 Barrel OPA'90 Tank Barget To Bouchard. Bollinger Marine Fabricators, L.L.C., Amelia, La., a Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. company, has delivered the B. No. 250, a newly designed and constructed 55,000 barrel OPA’90 compliant tank barge to Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc., Melville, NY. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Shipbuilders Rely On Training To Fill Crafts Jobs

With skilled craftsmen in short supply in U.S. coastal areas, many shipbuilders turn to their own, sometimes extensive, internal training. Because fewer young people are entering shipbuilding out of high school, the industry is faced with an aging workforce that will soon have to be replaced. As good jobs for shipfitters and welders go begging, industry leaders say it's way past time to spread the word about these opportunities. Metal Trades Completes Navy Fuel Barge

Metal Trades, Inc. announced the completion of two double hull Fuel Barges for the U.S. Navy as a sub-contractor to Maybank Industries. The ABS classed 7,000 barrel barges are designed to carry diesel and JP-5 fuel in four cargo tanks within a 180 foot long by 44 foot wide hull. These two barges are being delivered to Pacific Naval Facilities. The two barges (YON-332 and YON-333) were designed by Bristol Harbor Group. Metal Trades will be launching two more double hull barges in 2012 for the same customer, with final delivery to U.S. Naval facilities on the East Coast.

Bollinger Safety Program Achieves Milestones

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. continues to achieve safety milestones changing the culture of shipyard safety awareness at its US based facilities. In the last quarter, Bollinger facilities at Algiers and Lockport New Construction both surpassed one year without a lost time accident. Of the many program achievements this year, the Bollinger Fourchon facility reached 10 years without a LTA, and the Bollinger Marine Fabricators’ facility reached an impressive 2,750,000 man-hours worked without a LTA. Crowley Builds DH Petroleum Barges for Alaska

Preparing to take environmental protection of Western Alaska waters to a whole new level, Crowley Maritime Corporation christened two new double-hulled petroleum tank barges, the 165-1 and 165-2, May 7 during a small ceremony at Dakota Creek Industries in Anacortes, Wash. The vessels, which are the first double-hulled, environmentally friendly barges of their kind to operate in Western Alaska waters, will join Crowley's 180-1, a double-hull barge that has serviced Alaska since 2005.

Harley Marine Expands Service into New Port

Harley Marine Services has expanded its service to the American Gulf by acquiring the former MGI of Houston, Texas. This business will be operated under Harley Marine Gulf incorporating all of the quality and safety procedures established within the Harley Marine family of companies. Formed in 1976, MGI has eight boats on long term charter but operate twelve double hull barges in all. Four of the barges transfer product between terminals, and eight are bunker barges that work in the Houston, Galveston and Lake Charles areas with two stationed in New Orleans. The transaction extends Harley Marine’s geographical presence to the Gulf Coast. Harley Franco, Chairman and CEO of Harley Marine Services states, “MGI will be a welcomed addition to the Harley Marine Family of Companies.

U.S. Navy Contract for DH Barges

Metal Trades, Inc. was contracted by Maybank Industries. LLC to build two new types of double hull barges for the U.S. Navy. Three “YON” fuel barges and one Ship Waste Offloading Barge (SWOB) will be built, each type with identical 6,900 barrel capacity cargo and double hull configurations. The ABS classed barges are being designed by Bristol Harbor Group of Bristol, RI to be 180 feet long and 44 feet wide. Production Engineering services are being performed by Bluewater Designs, Inc. of Delray Beach, FL.
