LeTourneau, Lamprell Contract for Newbuild Jack-up Kit
LeTourneau Technologies, Inc. announced the sale of a second LeTourneau Super 116E Class jack-up rig kit to Lamprell Energy, Ltd., with final delivery expected by the end of 2008. The rig is to be built at Lamprell's Hamriyah facility located in the United Arab Emirates for Scorpion Offshore Ltd. Lamprell is currently building an initial Super 116E Class jack-up at the same location, also for Scorpion Offshore, under a license from LTI. This order is the 18th for the popular LeTourneau Super 116 series of jack-ups. The Super 116E Class is one of five current LTI jack-up rig designs, and an evolution of the LTI's industry workhorse 116-C Class design. The Super 116E provides up to 2,000 kip greater payload than its predecessor. The rig is designed to drill in up to 350 feet of water in moderate environmental locations and can be outfitted to handle high temperature/high pressure wells.
Rowan Wins Rig Contruction Contract
Rowan Companies, Inc. announced that it's wholly-owned subsidiary, LeTourneau, Inc., has been awarded a contract by Perforadora Central, S.A. de C.V., a Mexican drilling contractor, to construct a Super 116E class jack-up rig.The rig will be an enhanced version of LeTourneau's Super 116-C class jack-up rig, with greater environmental and payload capacity. It will have 511 feet of leg, enabling operations in water depths up to 350 feet in areas like the Gulf of Mexico, Asia and the Persian Gulf
Signal Awarded TARZAN CLASS
Signal International, L.L.C. signed a contract with LeTourneau, Inc. to build a TARZAN CLASS jackup drill rig. LeTourneau is procuring the rig, the fourth TARZAN CLASS rig built for Rowan Companies, Inc., its parent corporation. Scorpion Offshore Orders Two Rigs
Scorpion Drilling Ltd (Scorpion) has exercised its option to order two additional LeTourneau Super 116 jackups to be built at Keppel AmFELS in Brownsville, Texas. The contract price for the two rigs, excluding Owner Furnished Equipment, is approximately $180 million. The new units represent the third and fourth jackup rigs in Scorpion’s fleet. Quick Modification of Offshore Jack-Up Drilling Rigs
Bollinger Fourchon, LLC, a subsidiary of Bollinger Shipyards, demonstrated its ability to modify or repair offshore jack-up drilling rigs quickly and cost effectively, with three recently completed projects. One project, for R&B Falcon Drilling, Inc., involved the replacement of jet piping (which blows away sand and mud around the rig legs for easier movement) and the fabrication and erection of an interior bulkhead on the Cliffs 150 rig in just eight days.
Transocean Agrees to Sell Three U.S. GoM Jackups
Transocean Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement with Hercules Offshore, Inc. to sell three of its U.S. Gulf of Mexico jackup drilling rigs and related equipment for $320m. The sales of the GSF Adriatic III, GSF High Island I and GSF High Island VIII will mark Transocean's exit from the shallow-water area of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The sales are expected to be consummated at the conclusion of each rig's current contract commitment and are subject to customary closing conditions
LeTourneau Tech Signs $185m Construction
