DNV and Zakher Marine sign MoU to Accelerate Decarbonization

DNV and Zakher Marine International (ZMI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Nor-Shipping to collaborate on solutions to reduce offshore greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.Abu Dhabi based ZMI, which owns and operates jack up accommodation barges and offshore vessels, has set sustainability goals, in alignment with the vision of the United Arab Emirates, to reduce emissions substantially by 2030. To support this ambition, DNV will be working with ZMI on a joint feasibility study that will assess the safety

Alka Marine, Acta Marine Partner to Purchase a Damen Multicat

Alka Marine and Acta Marine have teamed up within a joint venture (JV) to purchase a Damen Multicat 2712, operated by Alka Marine.The JV company called Alka Marine International, is incorporated under the French law and registered in Saint Nazaire. The vessel is named Coastal Aurora.Built in 2014, the 27-meter-long vessel is adapted to offshore wind support operations, including anchoring works, subsea structure maintenance, among others. With its 2 x 9.8-ton cranes at 16.5-meter, and a 150-ton winch, the Coastal Aurora has a bollard pull of 34 tons and has a 150-square-meter deck space.

ADNOC Fleet Rises to over 300 with ZMI Buy

The shipping and maritime logistics arm of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) is acquiring Zakher Marine International (ZMI), adding 24 jack-up barges and 38 offshore support vessels to its fleet. ZMI is an Abu Dhabi-based owner and operator of offshore support vessels, with what ADNOC says is the world’s largest fleet of self-propelled jack-up barges. On completion of the transaction, which is subject to customary regulatory approvals, ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S) total fleet will amount to more than 300 units.With the acquisition of ZMI

PetroChina Tops Singapore's List of 2021 Bunker Fuel Suppliers

PetroChina International Singapore Pte Ltd climbed three spots to be the top marine fuel supplier in the world's biggest ship refueling hub in 2021 while the overall number of licensed suppliers fell by four to 41, official data showed on Monday.Shell Plc's Singapore bunkering unit, Shell Eastern Trading Pte Ltd, fell from the top ranking in 2020 to third, behind Singapore's Equatorial Marine Fuel Management Services Pte Ltd in second place, unchanged from 2020, the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore data showed.Vitol Bunkers Pte Ltd

Singapore Suspends Hin Leong Unit's Bunker Licenses

Singapore has suspended the licenses to sell ship fuel held by a subsidiary of defunct oil trader Hin Leong Trading Pte Ltd since it could no longer meet the licensing requirements, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said on Monday.The MPA suspended the licenses for Hin Leong's subsidiary Ocean Bunkering Services Pte Ltd (OBS), an agency spokesperson said in an emailed response to questions from Reuters sent on Oct. 12.MPA typically issues licenses to supply bunker

Taiwanese Vessel Detained in New Zealand over Withheld Wages

Maritime NZ detained the Panama-flagged bulk carrier Daiwan Justice on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Lyttelton after a complaint the crews’ wages had not been paid for almost four months.Maritime NZ Southern Regional Compliance Manager Michael Vredenburg said, the detention was lifted later on Saturday after the ship’s operator, Taiwanese company, Wisdom Marine International Limited, paid the crew.Last year Daiwan Fortune, another Wisdom Marine International ship, was also detained.

WFW Advises HSBC $123m Three Vessel Sinosure-backed Financing

Saudi Arabia's Bahri is targeting acquisitions in Asia and the Middle East as the exclusive oil shipper for state energy giant Saudi Aramco seeks to expand its reach, the chief executive said on Wednesday.Bahri is the world's largest owner and operator of very large crude carriers (VLCCs). International Maritime Organization (IMO) fuel rules entering force in 2020 mandate a drastic sulfur reduction. Yanmar Rolls Out New Marine Power Offerings

Yanmar has already introduced several new products for the marine market in 2018, including a new common rail inboard marine diesel engine touted as the world's smallest, higher horsepower offerings in its mid range series, and expanded joystick controls. Yanmar Marine International has launched the latest addition to its family of new generation common rail (CR) diesel engines, the compact Yanmar 3JH40 inboard engine, at boot Düsseldorf. The three-cylinder 3JH40 has been developed as the marine industry’s smallest CR inboard diesel engine, Yanmar said.

Yanmar Launches New Diesel Outboard

Following its agreement with German manufacturer Neander Shark for exclusive global distribution of the Dtorque 111 twin-cylinder 50 hp diesel outboard engine, YANMAR MARINE INTERNATIONAL (YMI) has announced the official launch of this new propulsion product. The compact Dtorque 111 is designed to revolutionize the small workboat market where its expected lifespan of well over 10,000 hours at least doubles that of any comparable outboard gasoline engine. The Dtorque 111 offers a smooth and quiet diesel engine, delivering 50 hp at the propeller with a torque output of 111 Nm at 2,500 rpm.

AST to Supply VSAT to 30 SEACOR Vessels

Satellite communication services and solutions provider the AST Group said it has recently won a contract with SEACOR Marine International to supply VSAT and failover satellite communications to 30 vessels. Partners to Build LNG Dual-fuel Bunker Ship for Singapore

Harley Marine International Holdings Pte. Ltd. said it has signed an MoU with Pavilion Gas Pte. Ltd, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Mitsui) to build the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fueled bunker tanker for Singapore. The new 7,500 DWT LNG dual-fueled vessel will be co-funded up to S$2 million (US$1.46 million) by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) through its LNG Bunkering Pilot Program (LBPP) Grant. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) will soon be enforcing a global Sulphur content cap of 0.5 percent on bunker fuels. LNG, as a marine fuel is a cleaner alternative for the industry. LNG is essentially natural gas, or about 88-97 percent methane cooled down to -262°F.
