100m Trinidad and Tobago Ferry Launched

Incat Tasmania’s 100m ship destined for Trinidad and Tobago was floated out from Incat’s drydock on Hobart’s Derwent River on October 9, and will remain alongside the shipyard wharf for machinery commissioning during October. POSH Terasea Liquidated After Default

PACC Offshore Services Holdings (POSH), an Asian operator of offshore support vessels, with a diversified fleet servicing offshore oil and gas E&P activities,  said its joint venture, POSH Terasea (PTPL) would be voluntarily liquidated by creditors after it defaulted on a facility with an outstanding amount of around US$27.6 million.POSH said the maximum potential financial impact arising from the liquidation will be up to $42m and no material impact to its operating cash flow is expected.PTPL is 50 percent-owned by POSH and 50 percent-owned by Terasea, which itself is a 50:50 joint venture between Ezion and Seabridge Marine Services.Independent of PTPL…

Incat, Austal Choose MAN for Ferries

Incat and Austal ferries to maintain Trinidad and Tobago seabridge Prominent Australian shipbuilders, Austal and Incat Tasmania, have ordered a total of eight MAN 16V28/33D STC engines in connection with the decision of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago to build one fast ferry at each yard.Each vessel will be powered by 4 × MAN 16V28/33D STC units to provide highspeed passenger and vehicle operations on the seabridge between the islands of Trinidad and Tobago.

Seaspan Marine Names Hilder Marine Operations VP

Seaspan announced the appointment of Paul Hilder to Vice President, Marine Operations. As a member of Seaspan’s senior leadership team, Hilder will oversee the operational efficiency and safety of the company’s vessels and marine crews. Working in collaboration with Port Captains, Dispatch and the Regulatory & Compliance departments, Hilder will also oversee and monitor ongoing operational and training issues in order to reduce potential risks and liabilities to the company. Hilder has a long, storied past in the BC marine industry.

Seaspan Unveils Massive Barge in Canada

Seaspan Marine unveiled the newest addition to its marine fleet, a 16,000-metric-ton barge named Seaspan 252, during an official commissioning ceremony at Seaspan’s North Vancouver Barge Maintenance Terminal today. The 114-meter-long by 27.5-meter-wide bulk barge is the largest of its kind in Canada, and can carry the equivalent of 1,454 standard dump truck loads of limestone. Designed by Robert Allan Ltd. of Vancouver, B.C. and constructed by Seabridge Marine Contractors Ltd. at Jiangsu Yanzijiang Shipbuilding Co. Ltd.

Deck Cargo Barge on Delivery Voyage to Canada

A 16,000 DWT deck cargo barge, Seaspan 252, was handed over to its owner, Seaspan Marine, in August, 2015. The barge, 114 meters long by 27.5 meters wide with a depth of 8.4 meters and classed ABS +A1 Barge, was designed by Robert Allan Ltd. of Vancouver, B.C. and constructed by Seabridge Marine Contractors Ltd. at Jiangsu Yanzijiang Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in China. Launched on July 31, the barge is now being towed by Seabridge Marine’s tug Pacific Hickory to British Columbia and is due to arrive in late September.

Hamburg Süd Opens Office in India

Hamburg Süd announced the opening of an office in Gandhidham, India, on October 1, 2014. It is the second branch office in the state of Gujarat. Hamburg Süd already has three offices in Mumbai, New Delhi and Ahmedabad. Effective October 1, 2014, Ahmedabad and Gandhidham office will take over all commercial activities including marketing and sales, customer order management and day-to-day operations in Gujarat from Seabridge Maritime Agency. Paresh Kataria will head the Gandhidham branch office.

Crowley Receives Heavy-Lift Deck Barge in Singapore

Crowley Maritime Corporation’s solutions group announced today that it has received the first two of potentially four, new heavy-lift, ballastable deck barges (HDBs) for use by clients in the Asia-Pacific region. These new barges, which will be contracted and managed from the company’s recently opened Singapore office, allow Crowley to better support regional customers in the oil and gas mining; Engineering, Construction and Procurement Management (ECPM); and Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning (EPIC) industries who are increasingly embarking on large-scale onshore and offshore projects. These new 400-foot-long, 120-foot-wide (122 meter x 36.5 meter) HDBs, named HDB 01 and HDB 02 are moored in Batam, Indonesia.

Latest Robert Allan Designed Barges in Canadian Arctic

Four Robert Allan designed shallow draft, double hull, combined bulk oil & deck barges, built in China for ITB North Limited, are now in service delivering bulk fuel oil and deck cargoes to various locations in the Far North less than 11 months after the original design contract was placed. When ITB Marine Group decided to expand their operations to the Mackenzie River, they chose to work once again with Robert Allan Ltd. to design their new shallow draft double hull oil barges.

T&T Spirit for Trinidad & Tobago

Newly delivered to The Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (PATT) is the T&T Spirit (Incat hull 060) which has emerged from Incat's Hobart shipyard sporting a white hull with the Trinidad & Tobago national colours of red, white and black on its sides. An interior seated dining areas lounges and bars has been provided and to tempt Caribbean travelers to the T&T Spirit’s birthplace interior bulkheads are adorned with scenes of Tasmania. The PATT also recently purchased the Incat 91 metre Wave Piercing Catamaran The Lynx in a $21m deal with Australian owner Allco Finance Group. Renamed T&T Express, that ferry, which was once well known for its eye catching black Devil Cat livery, has also been painted with the national colours of Trinidad & Tobago.

Trinidad & Tobago Purchases Second Incat

The government of Trinidad & Tobago has purchased its second Incat Wave Piercing Catamaran in as many months. The former US Army Theatre Support Vessel Spearhead (Hull 060) has been purchased from its Delaware, United States based Owners, Bollinger / Incat LLC. To that end the four-year-old fast ferry, to be renamed T&T Spirit, is currently being refitted for passenger service after a well documented career with the US Army. When she emerges from her refit at Incat’s Hobart shipyard T&T Spirit will be sporting a new white hull along with the Trinidad & Tobago national colours of red, white and black on its sides. Rickmers-Linie Appoints Korea Maritime

Rickmers-Linie GmbH & Cie. KG, the German based global breakbulk, heavy lift and project cargo specialist, has appointed Korea Maritime Co.,Ltd., Seoul as its new agent in South Korea effective September 18. Rickmers-Linie and Seabridge Korea Ltd., Seoul, have agreed to terminate the existing agency agreement effective 17 September 2006. As of 18 September, all Rickmers-Linie’s activities in South Korea will be handled by Korea Maritime Co., with the first vessel being the MV Rickmers New Orleans, scheduled to arrive in Masan on September 21.

T&T Looks for Fast Cargo Ferries

New tenders are being invited for one or two roll on/roll off passenger/cargo fast ferries to service the seabridge between Trinidad and Tobago, according to a Trinidad News report. Tenders close on November 30 at noon and would be opened the same day at 2 p.m. Additionally, the authority is inviting tenders for the wet lease of a similar ferry for a period from April next year, the time when the current six-month lease on The Cat expires. Tenders for this close at noon on Wednesday and would be publicly opened at 2 p.m. the same day. The authority had invited tenders for the purchase of a fast ferry earlier this year but the process was quashed because of interference, according to the report.
