Harvey Gulf Contracts to Build First U.S. LNG-Powered Vessels

Today, Harvey Gulf International Marine became the first U.S. vessel operator to contract for construction of vessels capable of operating exclusively on natural gas.  The agreement is for two, 302’ X 64’, Dual Fuel Offshore Supply Vessels, with an option for a third.  The contract was signed with Trinity Offshore, which will build the vessels at their Gulfport, MS shipyard.    In addition to being powered by cleaner burning natural gas, the vessels will achieve “ENVIRO+, Green Passport” Certification by the American Bureau of Shipping.  The requirements for this certification include, among others, that the vessels be continuously manned with a certified Environmental Officer, be completely constructed with certified environmentally friendly materials, and have advanced alarms for fuel tanks and containment systems.  Along with Harvey Gulf’s other vessels under construction, they will be the first OSV’s to achieve this certification, making them the most environmental friendly OSV’s in Gulf of Mexico.    Harvey Gulf CEO Shane J. Harvey Gulf Inks LNG OSV Contracts

Trinity Industries Announces Barge Construction Agreement

Trinity Marine Products has reached a long-term agreement to provide barges to Ingram Barge Company, the leading carrier on America's inland waterways. The contract calls for the construction of dry cargo units for a number of years. The terms were not disclosed except that the agreement protects Trinity with cost escalation coverage.

Trinity Yachts Reopens Industrial Canal France Road Facility

Trinity Yachts, has recently re-opened their original shipyard, located on the Industrial Canal in the Eastern section of New Orleans, Louisiana. The 38 acre yard with almost 10 acres of covered building area suffered badly from the effects of the hurricane water and almost 70% of the work force lost their homes. Shipbuilding Company Returns to New Orleans

United States Marine Inc., a shipbuilding company that moved its headquarters to Gulfport, Miss. after Hurricane Katrina, has returned to the New Orleans.
