Northrop Grumman Awarded Ship Contract

Northrop Grumman Corporation was awarded a contract from Maersk Line, Limited for maintenance work on the military prepositioning ship M/V Pvt. Franklin J. Phillips. Northrop Grumman's Newport News sector is the prime contractor for the work, which will include dry-docking, maintenance and repair. The Phillips arrived at the shipyard on Sept. 26 and will remain for approximately five weeks. Work during this period will include upgrades to the habitability spaces; replacement of the cargo

Lynne Pace, wife of retired U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, served as the ship's sponsor. Larry Thompson has been named vice president of operations for Connector Specialists Inc. Thompson joined the hose and fitting specialists in 1996 as a salesman in the Baton Rouge office. His territory covered the Gulf Coast region of Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Connector Specialists has three locations - New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette. AIG Global to Purchase P&O's U.S. Marine Terminal Operations

On December 10, 2006, a member company of AIG Global Investment Group entered into an agreement in Dubai to purchase P&O Ports North America (POPNA) from P&O Holdings, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of global marine terminal operator, DP World for an undisclosed price. NASSCO Lays Keel, USNS William McLean

On Marh 26, General Dynamics NASSCO, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), laid the keel for USNS William McLean, the twelfth ship of the Lewis and Clark class of dry cargo-ammunition ships (T-AKE). The ship is named in honor of the U.S. Navy physicist who in the 1950s pioneered the technology behind the Sidewinder missile, the first effective U.S. air-to-air missile. Construction of the William McLean began in September 2009
