VT Halter Marine Delivers Second Tug for OSG

VT Halter Marine, Inc. (VT Halter Marine), a subsidiary of VT Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), today announced the delivery of Endurance, the second 8,000 hp Articulated Tug Barge (ATB) tug to Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc. This is part of a contract that VT Halter Marine signed with OSG in April 2010 to complete two tugs over 16 months at the former’s Moss Point Marine shipyard. The first tug, Courageous, was delivered in June 23, 2011. Both Courageous and Endurance are capable of operating in full ocean service and will be used to perform ATB services transporting refined petroleum products coastwise within the US. Measuring 42.8 meters by 11.6 meters, these state-of-the-art tugs number among the 20 ATB tugs built by VT Halter Marine, one of the leading designers and builders of ATB tugs in the US. “VT Halter Marine is proud to deliver this second 8,000 ATB tug to OSG - our valued and important partner; and we look forward to continuing this strong relationship,” remarked Bill Skinner, Chief Executive Officer, VT Halter Marine

VT Halter Launches Ferry

VT Halter Marine Inc., a subsidiary of Vision Technologies Systems Inc., launched a 95-foot sea-going ferry from its Mississippi-based Pascagoula Operations. Christened the Caribeña, the all-aluminum vessel was designed and built by VT Halter Marine for the Puerto Rico Port Authority. Capable of carrying 272 passengers, the Caribeña will provide inter- island transportation for the Fajardo-Vieques-Culebra Ferry Line. VT Halter Wins Contract

VT Halter Marine Inc., a subsidiary of Vision Technologies Systems Inc., signed a $5.2 million contract with Tide Leasing Company, L.L.C., of Birmingham, AL to build a stevedoring crane barge. The 200 x 75 x 14.5-ft. foreign flagged vessel will be classed by Lloyd’s Registry Class Designation + 100AN deck barge. Hydralift AmClyde Inc., (AmClyde) will supply the crane for the project. Crowley Christens ATB

Crowley Maritime Corporation christened the first of six new 185,000-barrel Articulated Tug-Barge (ATB) tank vessels that the company will take delivery of over the next two and half years. The vessels christened were the 9,280 HP-tug Pacific Reliance and barge 650-1. At ceremonies held at the Mobile Convention Center on South Water Street, Constance Crowley Peabody, aunt of Tom Crowley Jr., company chairman, president and CEO, christened the Pacific Reliance


VT Halter Secures Navy Contract

VT Halter Marine announced a contract modification worth $165m by the US Navy for the Egyptian Navy’s Fast Missile Craft (FMC) project. This modification enables VT Halter Marine, as the prime contractor, to procure long lead time materials which include items, equipment and or components that need to be developed in advance of the required delivery dates due to their complex nature. NOAA and VT Halter Launch Another Fisheries Survey Vessel

VT Halter Marine, Inc. and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration launched the second of four planned NOAA fisheries survey vessels. The ship was christened Henry B. Bigelow by Catherine Silver of Winnacunnet High School in Hampton, N.H., on behalf of the ship’s sponsor, Mrs. Judd Gregg, wife of the senior senator from New Hampshire. The ship will be one of the most technologically advanced fisheries survey vessels in the world when placed in operation in late 2006.
