EMSA Taps Spire to Continue SAT-AIS Data Services

Spire Global, Inc., a provider of space-based data, analytics and space services, reports it has been awarded two framework contracts by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) with a maximum overall budget of €8.4 million. Concurrent with the framework award, Spire received two specific awards that total multi-million euros under the framework contracts. Under the contracts, Spire will provide space-based automatic identification system (SAT-AIS) data services for ship tracking over a four-year period, including real-time, standard and high-density backup SAT-AIS.

DNV has awarded two Approval in Principle (AiP) certificates to Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) for the design of a 50,000cbm floating liquefied CO2 (LCO2) storage and injection unit (FSIU) and a 20,000cbm LCO2 carrier.The AiPs confirm the general feasibility of the conceptual designs as reviewed by DNV. Babcock Awarded More Dreadnought Contracts

Babcock has been awarded two further contracts for work on the UK’s new Dreadnought Class submarine worth a combined £121 million.The contracts include a 4.5-year £66 million contract with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to provide input into the development of the support solution for the UK’s new Dreadnought Class submarines. Van Oord Awarded Offshore Wind Contracts in Baltic Sea and Taiwan

Van Oord has been awarded two new offshore wind projects: Baltic Power in the Baltic Sea and Greater Changhua 2b and 4 in Taiwan. The contracts have a combined value of more than EUR 500 million. Once operational, the two offshore wind farms will deliver renewable energy to approximately 2.5 million households.The Baltic Power offshore wind farm is being developed by a joint venture between ORLEN (Poland) and Northland Power (Canada). The wind farm will be located in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone of the Baltic Sea, 23 kilometers from shore.

Have awarded two scholarships for the 2023/2024 academic year.Awards have been made to Samuel Shanks of Port Alberni, BC, and Zachary Greenham of St. John’s, Newfoundland.Shanks is a second-year student of mechanical engineering at the University of Victoria, focussed on a career in marine engineering. Throughout high school and university he has gained considerable experience working in various aspects of the marine world.Greenham is a fourth-year student of naval architecture at Memorial University.

Solstad Offshore Wins $100M Vessel Contracts with PRIO and Equinor in Brazil

Solstad Offshore has been awarded two contracts worth $100 million in total from Brazilian clients.The Norwegian offshore vessel owner said that its construction support vessel, Normand Pioneer, won an extension of its charter contract with the Brazilian oil company PRIO for a period of 18 months to August 2025. The vessel will support PRIO's E&P activities in Brazilian waters. Also, Solstad and Equinor Brazil have agreed to convert the platform supply vessel Normand Carioca to a Well Stimulation Vessel (WSV) and extend the present contract until December 2027.

Port Houston Awards $450 Million in Contracts for Channel Expansion

The Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority met in a special session and awarded two of the largest contracts in the organization’s history. The Commission approved the staff’s recommendation to award Weeks Marine and Curtin Maritime Corporation contracts totaling $430 million to complete the remaining Galveston Bay segments of the Houston Ship Channel expansion project.“It’s an exciting day for Port Houston and the entire region and the millions of people who rely on the Houston Ship Channel for their livelihood and to bring them essential goods,” Chairman Ric Campo said.

Havila Lines Up PSV Charters

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Havila Shipping this week announced it has been awarded two separate platform supply vessel (PSV) charter contracts.On Monday, the company said it entered into a contract with Harbour Energy for the 2010-built, 85-meter Havila Commander. Estimated to commence in January 2022, the contract is for a firm period of four wells, with one well option.On Tuesday, Havila Shipping said it entered into contract with Amilcar Petroleum Operations for the 2009-built, 78.6-meter Havila Borg. The contract is for a firm period estimated to four months included mobilization and demobilization, with optional periods for up to two months. Commencement will be between January 15 and February 15, 2022.

Aberdeen Harbour Board has awarded two new contracts for the construction of the South Breakwater and Crown Wall, with a total value of £60 million (USD 83,5 million)Dutch marine and offshore contractor Van Oord will act as the principal contractor for the 550-meter-long South Breakwater, and Scottish-based construction firm Beattie FRC will build the concrete Crown Wall along the length of the North Breakwater.Both structures will provide critical protection for vessels and operations within the Harbour expansion, ultimately protecting the port from a one-in-300-year storm.

Singapore Adds Minerva Bunkering and TFG Marine to List of Bunker Suppliers

Russia's Surgutneftegaz awarded 380,000 tonnes of Urals crude oil loading from the Black Sea port of Novorossiisk and the Baltic's Ust-Luga in February, traders said.A cargo of 100,000 tonnes loading from Ust-Luga over Feb. 19-20 was sold at dated Brent minus $1.80 a barrel when adding freight to an original FOB differential, traders said. French oil major Total was the buyer, they said.Surgutneftegaz also awarded two Urals cargoes of 140,000 tonnes each for loading from Novorossiisk Feb. 15-16 and Feb. 17-18.

Boskalis Wins Two Offshore Projects

Dutch engineering company Royal Boskalis Westminster  has been awarded two offshore contracts with a combined value of approximately EUR 85 million.For a new offshore windfarm in Taiwan, Boskalis will carry out the scour protection of the turbine foundations and in Denmark a four-kilometer-long gas pipeline will be installed in the seabed. The execution of both projects is scheduled to take place in 2020.In Taiwan, Boskalis was awarded a contract for the scour protection for the Yunlin offshore windfarm. The award was made by Yunneng Wind Power Co. Ltd. Boskalis will install rock on the seabed around the 71 monopile foundations serving as scour protection.In total 325,000 tons of rock sourced from local quarries in Taiwan will be installed using a fall-pipe vessel.

Sapura Energy Bags Multiple Contracts
