US Navy Awards General Dynamics Bath Iron Works Funding for Two DDG

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Bath Iron Works funding for the planning and construction of two Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, DDG 126 and DDG 127. The contract modification fully funds the two ships. DDG 126 was awarded under the contract that was part of a multi-year competition for DDG 51-class destroyers in 2013. DDG 127 was approved by Congress under separate legislation. Dirk Lesko, president of Bath Iron Works, said: “These contracts help to stabilize our business and are welcome news. The contract modification includes funding for the Flight III upgrades on DDG 126. There are currently four DDG 51 destroyers in production at Bath Iron Works: Thomas Hudner (DDG 116), Daniel Inouye (DDG 118), Carl M. Levin (DDG 120) and John Basilone (DDG 122).

USN Awards General Dynamics $11 Million for Support Services

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat an $11 million contract to perform non-nuclear maintenance work for submarines homeported at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). U.S. Navy Awards General Dynamics $17 Million for Support Services

The U.S. Navy awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat two contract modifications worth a total value of $16.8 million to perform nuclear and nonnuclear maintenance work for submarines homeported at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics. Under the first contract, valued at $8.8 million, Electric Boat will continue to operate the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department (NRMD) at the submarine base. The company will provide project management, planning, training and nuclear services to support maintenance, modernization and repairs.

U.S. Navy Awards General Dynamics $152m for Submarine Work

General Dynamics Electric Boat has been awarded a $152.4 million contract modification by the U.S. Navy to provide lead-yard services for Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarines. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics. Under the contract, Electric Boat will maintain and update design drawings and data, including technology insertions, for each Virginia-class submarine throughout its construction and post-shakedown availability periods. With the exercise of this option, the cumulative value of the contract at its completion in 2014 will be $921.4 million. This work will engage Electric Boat’s engineering and design organization, which comprises more than 4,000 employees.

U.S. Navy Awards General Dynamics $15 Million to Continue SEWIP Work

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, a $15 million contract modification to continue development and production of the Navy’s Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP) Block 1B3. General Dynamics will continue to help the Navy enhance its shipboard electronic warfare systems and capabilities, to include providing SEWIP with the ability to detect and identify additional potential threats and provide early warning to combat-systems operators.

U.S. Navy awards General Dynamics Electric Boat a US$42-million for 'USS Hartford' maintenance and modernization. The contract modification is for routine work on the Los Angeles-class attack submarine. Under the terms of the contract, Electric Boat will perform a dry-docking selected restricted availability, which consists of maintenance work, upgrades and modernization activities required to ensure the submarine is operating at full technical capacity. The work will take place at the Electric Boat shipyard in Groton and involve up to 417 employees at its peak.

U.S. Navy Awards General Dynamics $459 Million

The U.S. Navy has awarded a $459 million contract modification to General Dynamics Electric Boat to provide planning yard work and engineering and technical support for nuclear submarines. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). Under the terms of this award, Electric Boat will provide design, engineering and logistics support and research and development activities for active U.S. submarines and submersibles. Electric Boat will also provide information services and support submarine maintenance and modernization activities, training and affordability/cost reduction efforts. Initially awarded in October 2010, the contract has a potential value of approximately $1.2 billion over three years if all options are exercised.

U.S. Navy Awards General Dynamics $94 Million

U.S. Navy Awards General Dynamics $94 Million to Plan USS Miami Fire Restoration. The U.S Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $94 million contract for advance planning and preliminary execution of fire-restoration efforts on USS Miami (SSN 755). Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). The USS Miami was damaged in a fire in May while it was in dry dock at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine, for a 20-month engineered overhaul. The fire-restoration efforts include assessment and analysis, planning and material procurement, fabrication and initial installation, and are expected to be completed by June 2013. The contract includes an option which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value to $100 million.

USN Submarine Work Contract Awarded to General Dynamics

Navy awards General Dynamics a contract to plan submarine maintenance and modernization work. The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $6.9 million contract modification to plan maintenance and modernization work on the Los Angeles-class submarines USS Hartford (SSN-768) and USS Toledo (SSN-769). Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics. Under the terms of the contract modification, Electric Boat will perform advanced planning and material procurement to prepare for and complete Dry-Docking Selected Restricted Availabilities (DSRAs) on the two submarines. The planning and execution of the two DSRAs has a combined potential value of $75 million. The DSRAs are scheduled for completion by January 2013.

Navy Awards General Dynamics $6m Contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $6.3m modification to a previously awarded contract for management and support of nuclear-maintenance work for submarines homeported at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) . Under the terms of the contract modification, Electric Boat will continue to operate the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department (NRMD) at the submarine base through Sept. 30, 2009. The company will provide project management, planning, training and radiological-control services to support maintenance, modernization and repairs. A core group of about 25 Electric Boat employees are assigned to the NRMD, with surge groups of up to 100 shipyard employees assigned for short periods.

NAVSEA Awards General Dynamics $27m IT Services Contracts

General Dynamics Information Technology, has been awarded three Seaport-e task orders by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) , Carderock Division (NSWCCD), in. The contracts have a total potential value of $26.7m if all options are exercised. Under the contracts, General Dynamics will provide information technology (IT) engineering and professional services for the Smart Carrier program and additional NSWCCD initiatives. U.S. Navy Awards General Dynamics $8.7B Contract for Six Virginia-Class Subs

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat an $8.7 billion block-buy contract for the construction of six Virginia-class submarines, the largest submarine order in U.S. history. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD). The contract authorizes Electric Boat, the lead shipyard, and its teammate, Northrop Grumman Newport News, to proceed with the construction of one ship per year from FY 03 through FY 06, and two ships in FY 07. "This is an extremely significant contract award," said Michael W. Toner, president of Electric Boat and executive vice president of General Dynamics Marine Systems group.

Under the terms of the contract, Electric Boat will perform a Selected Restricted Availability, which consists of repairs, maintenance work, alterations and several major systems upgrades. Navy Awards General Dynamics $62m Contract Modification

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $61.5 million contract modification to provide lead yard services for Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarines. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). Under the modification, Electric Boat will maintain and update design drawings and data, including technology insertions, for all Virginia-class submarines throughout their construction and post-shakedown availability periods. Work will be performed in Groton, Conn. (94 percent); Quonset, R.I. (5 percent); and Newport, R.I. (1 percent). Initially awarded in October 2005, the contract will be worth a total of $225 million when it is completed in September 2007.

Navy Awards General Dynamics $15.5M for Work on USS Virginia

The U.S. Navy awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $15.5 million contract modification to perform a range of work on USS Virginia (SSN-774) following its shakedown period. The work, known as a Post-Shakedown Availability, comprises maintenance, repairs, alterations, testing and other activities and will be completed in November 2006. Ninety-nine percent of the work will be performed at Electric Boat's shipyard here; one percent will be performed at Quonset Point, R.I. The award modifies a contract received earlier this year and brings its total funded value to $54.8 million. The lead ship of its class, USS Virginia is the first of the Navy's major combatants to be designed specifically for post-Cold War missions.

Navy Awards General Dynamics $443M Contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded Electric Boat, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, a 5-year, $443 million contract for the design of the Trident SSGN, a multimission submarine optimized for covert strike and special operations support. Under the terms of the contract, Electric Boat will begin detail design and related support work to convert the first four Ohio-class ballistic- missile submarines (also known as Tridents) to an SSGN configuration. The submarines to be converted, coincident with their mid-life refuelings, are USS Ohio (SSBN-726), USS Michigan (SSBN-727), USS Florida (SSBN-728) and USS Georgia (SSBN-729). Electric Boat designed and built all 18 ships of the Ohio class.

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat an $8.4 million contract to begin advanced planning for maintenance, repair and alterations on the USS Augusta (SSN-710). Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). The work -- known as a Pre-Inactivation Restricted Availability -- will be performed at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton and will comprise alternations, repairs, maintenance and testing. The contract has a total potential value of $43.2 million, and is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2006.
