Zodiac Warranty through Boaters World

Zodiac of North America, Inc. announced its warranty policy for all Zodiac products bought by a consumer through a Boaters World liquidator. Zodiac will warrant all boxed boats, which are inflatable models, as though purchased through a normal dealer. Zodiac RIBs sold through liquidators do not come with a warranty, but if the customer takes the RIB to an authorized Zodiac dealer for a safety and pre-delivery inspection, then they can purchase the warranty from the dealer.   "Our concern over RIBs sold through the liquidators is that damage may have occurred during the transition from Boaters World to the liquidators," a Zodiac representative said. "A safety inspection from an authorized dealer is essential to the safety of the buyers and the safe operation of our boats. Since these boats are sold without their warranties, we've developed a special cost-effective program to allow these customers to have their RIBs inspected and purchase a five-year factory warranty from the dealer."   Buyers of Zodiac RIBs will need to visit www.zodiacmarineusa.com to locate their nearest dealer, then make an appointment with the dealer for a safety inspection. The cost of the inspection will be the responsibility of the customer, as will the cost of any deficiencies necessary to correct to ensure the safe operation of the boat. The five-year factory warranty is available for one thousand dollars.

Coast Guard Searches for Missing Boaters

Coast Guard crews from Alabama and Florida are searching this morning for three boaters approximately three to five nautical miles north of Dog Island in St. George Sound, off the coast of Carrabelle, Fla. Rescue aircraft from Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., and Air Station Clearwater, Fla., a rescue boat from Station Panama City, Fla., and an 87-ft. patrol boat, the Coast Guard Cutter Bonito, from Pensacola, Fla., are searching for the boaters.

South Florida Boater Option for Arrival

The US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) issued a news release stating that it is instituting a new Local Boater Option for South Florida. Local boaters who are US citizens or legal permanent residents may register their biographical data and vessel information with CBP. They will then be issued a pleasure boat registration number for future arrivals at South Florida locations from foreign ports or places. Source: HK Law

Two Rescued, One Dead After Boat Capsizes

Two people were rescued and one died after their 16-foot skiff boat capsized Tuesday in the vicinity of the Crystal River power plant. Edward Calcani, 71, of Beverly Hills, Fla., was located deceased on the north side of the power plant channel by the crew of an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater around 4 a.m. this morning after searching for eight hours. Search for Missing Boater Suspended

The Coast Guard suspended its search at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday for missing boater Jason Henderson. The search for Henderson, 30, lasted seven days and covered more than 220,000 square miles (an area larger than the state of California). The search began August 14 when Henderson failed to return from a daylong fishing trip. He was reported missing by his father-in-law, Ronald Noah, to the Hawaii Fire Department at 10 p.m.
