Bollinger delivers the ATB unit, B. No. 282 and tug Ellen S. Bouchard, the second of two 80,000 BBL OPAâ€™90 tank barges and retrofitted tug to Bouchard. Bollinger Gretna, LLC, Harvey, La., and Bollinger Algiers, L.L.C, two Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., facilities, have completed the new construction of the second of two 80,000 barrel (BBL) OPAâ€™90 compliant tank barges, as well as the retrofit and conversion of a Bouchard tug, respectfully, to Bouchard Coastwise Management Corp., Melville, N.Y. The 80,000 BBL tank barge, B. No. 282, is a manned ocean, clean oil barge measuring 399-ft. long, with a 74-ft. beam and a depth of 28-ft.. The barge is built to meet the requirements of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPAâ€™90), with 12 cargo compartments with three separate pumping systems. While the B. No. 282 was in the final stages of construction, Bollinger Algiers retrofitted the Ellen S. Bouchard with the Intercon C coupler system, generator upgrades, regulatory recertification and received life extensions. The tug measures 112-ft. long, with a 35-ft. beam and a depth of 17-ft.

This vessel follows the Lousteau Tide and Deville Tide, Bollinger's new 220 class offshore support vessels (OSV), designed for Tidewater. Just as the U.S. is increasingly fortifying its coastal security, Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport, La. has built, delivered and seen the commissioning of a new 87-ft. coastal patrol boat, USCG Sturgeon, for the U.S. Coast Guard at Grand Isle, La. The new boat will replace the 82-ft. patrol boat Point Sal, that was commissioned in 1966. Sturgeon is the 36th of 50 nearly identical vessels being built by Bollinger for the Coast Guard in a contract worth more than $200 million.
