Center Opens

Wärtsilä Land & Sea Academy Training Center Opens in India

Wärtsilä opened a Wärtsilä Land & Sea Academy (WLSA) training center at its existing technology school in Khopoli, India. This is the fourth WLSA regional centre of Wärtsilä for global coverage of training and competence management services to ship owners and power plant owners. The other three are in Turku, Finland which opened in January 2006; in Subic Bay, the Philippines, and in Fort Lauderdale, USA. These training centres form the spine in the global network of other locations at which WLSA also provides training services. The WLSA scope of service extends from the basic off-the-shelf, standard product courses to a full range of courses for power plants, ship power and propulsion equipment in connection with competency qualifications. The first courses at the new training centre will commence in December 2006. The trainees will be able to take advantage of the Khopoli factory's facilities for reconditioning, machining, assembly, etc., for thorough practical training. In addition to well-equipped classrooms, there are workshops for practical training also on engines, propulsion equipment, marine electrical equipment, engine room ancillary equipment and control systems.


ROV Training Graduates Secure Employment

Rolls-Royce Opens Poland Facility

Rolls-Royce opened a new Marine Service Center today in the Port of Gdynia, Poland. The opening marks the latest stage in the development of a global Marine Service Center network, which provides 24-hour access to Rolls-Royce skills and expertise to customers in 35 countries. Rolls-Royce Training Center Opens in Brazil

To better support marine customers in South America, Rolls-Royce has opened a new training center in Brazil, to cater for customers operating the large number of vessels with Rolls-Royce systems that work in country’s deep water oil and gas fields. NI Validates Singapore DP

The London headquartered, Dynamic Positioning Center in conjunction with Singapore Maritime Academy announced the validation of the newly opened dynamic positioning (DP) training school in Singapore by the Nautical Institute (NI), the professional association for qualified mariners.
