Aker Yards Delivers Fast Day Ferry

Aker Yards delivered a superspeed day ferry for Color Line Transport AS. The vessel built at the Rauma yard is the first in the series of two. The second will be delivered next summer. The contract for two Fast Passenger Day Ferries worth approx. $370.5m was signed by Aker Yards and Color Line on December 15, 2005. Speed and efficiency were the key requirements when the new concept was designed. The operational cruising speed will be 27 knots, and the passage time from Kristiansand / Larvik in Norway to Hirtshals in Denmark will be from 3 to 4 hours. The ca. 211 m long and 26 m wide vessel has 2,000 lane metres of vehicle space and takes 1,900 passengers. There are no passenger cabins in the day ferry.


ICG Acquires Passenger RoRo Cruise Ferry

Irish Continental Group plc (ICG) announced that its ferry division Irish Ferries has entered into an agreement for RoRo cruise ferry Kronprins Harald from its current owners and operators , Color Line of Norway, for an investment , including modification and delivery costs. B+V Repair Sector Reports Good Prospects

Two ships are currently at Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH in Hamburg and both were booked in at very short notice, one for rudder repairs and the other for the repair of engine damage. The container ship CGM PASTEUR (length over all: 200,23m, breadth: 32,20m; GT: 29.739) from Columbus Shipmanagement (Hamburg Süd) is in Dock 11. Its rudder bearings are being replaced and the rudder blade repaired. In addition a completely new rudder head is being fitted.

More than 6.3 million tons of cargo and 2.2% more passengers handled.   The Port of Kiel ended the year 2012 with a small plus in both cargo and passenger handling. USS Freedom Repainted with Amercoat
