Abu Dhabi Awards Construction Contract

Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding (ADSB), has granted a major construction contract worth $12.2 million to a joint venture of Arabtec and Overseas AST Co. The contract is the first of two major construction contracts planned in ADSB's ongoing facility expansion. This past August, the company signed a separate contract with Synchrolift for a new shiplift system, which is currently being manufactured. This contract with Arabtec and Overseas AST includes the construction of shiplift piers, dry berths, a new quay wall, two large assembly halls and the basic site infrastructure. The shiplift, dry berths and assembly halls will all be connected by a modern, land-level ship transfer system, which will significantly increase ADSB's vessel lifting and launching capability from its current 500 tons to 2,000 tons.

GD to Integrate Ship Mission System for JHSV

Austal USA has selected General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems as the ship mission system integrator for its Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV). Daewoo, Galfar Win $442m Oman Port Deal

has awarded Daewoo Shipbuilding and local firm Galfar GECS.OM a construction contract worth $442.2m at Duqm port, a Galfar official said. 's coastal area of Duqm is to become a fully integrated downstream export centre, together with a major export refinery and a petrochemicals complex. It will have a crude oil export terminal. Austal USA to Prime LCS Bid

Austal USA and Bath Iron Works (BIW) have agreed to revoke their current teaming arrangement. New Icebreaker for Russian Arctic

Shipbuilders at Baltiisky Yard starts the construction of Russia’s biggest and most modern diesel-engined icebreaker. The start of construction was marked by a ceremony at the Baltiiksky Yard in Saint Petersburg, Russia. According to the ship designers Petrobalt, the vessel will be 146,8 meters long and have a deadweight of 22258 tons. It will have a crew of 38 and will be able to operate autonomously for 60 days in up to two meters thick ice.
