Evergreen Group to Order 100 Containerships

According to an April 19 report from the Taiwan News, after refraining from placing any order for new ships for the past two years, the head of the Evergreen Group now sees the opportune time to replenish his fleet with newbuildings. Dr. Chang Yung-fa, chairman of the Evergreen Group, said in a recent interview in Tokyo that the group intends to order 100 new containerships in the near future and negotiations with shipbuilders are expected to start in May. Evergreen Orders Post-Panamax Vessels from MHI

The Evergreen Group has placed orders with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd in Japan for ten post-Panamax vessels, each with a capacity of 6,724TEU. The first vessel is due for delivery in September 2005 and subsequent vessels will be delivered at the rate of approximately four per year. Naming Ceremony Held in Korea for Ever Leader

Evergreen's Eighth New 8,452-TEU Ship Christened. Ever Leader, the eighth L-type containership of Evergreen Line, was christened by Bronson Hsieh, the Evergreen Group's Second Vice Group Chairman, at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard today. The ceremonial rope cutting for the new 8,452-TEU vessel was performed by Mrs. Sook-Je Lee in a ceremony attended by dignitaries from Taiwan and abroad.   Ever Leader is owned by Evergreen Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd


Ever Safety Launched in Japan

Ever Safety, the ninth of ten 7024 TEU S-series vessels being built for Evergreen in Japan, was launched today (June 5, 2007) at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ Kobe shipyard. She was named by S S Lin (Lin Sun-san), Second Vice Group Chairman of the Evergreen Group, while the ceremonial rope cutting, sending the ship down the slipway, was performed by Mrs Shigemi Matsuda, the wife of Akira Matsuda, Senior Executive Vice President and Member of the Board of the Marubeni Corporation.


Evergreen Group Orders Ten 8000 TEU vessels

Evergreen Group has placed orders with Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd in Taipei for ten 8,000-TEU L-class environmentally advanced container vessels. The first vessel is due for delivery in 2012 and will join Evergreen Line global containership fleet. Six of the new vessels will be built for Evergreen Marine Corporation and four for Evergreen International S.A. (Panama). The ships are being built at a cost of $103m each


Evergreen Containership Launched

Ever Strong, the seventh in a series of ten 7024 TEU S-type vessels being built for Evergreen in Japan, took to the water for the first time on November 22 at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ Kobe shipyard. She was named by Evergreen Group Vice Group Chairman S S Lin and launched by Lin Mei-Yin, wife of Paul Liao who, prior to his current role as Chairman of the Breeze Center shopping mall development in Taipei, was a key figure in Taiwan’s international trade sector.


Evergreen Group Chairman Honored

Evergreen Group Chairman Dr. Chang Yung-Fa was presented the honor of Commandeur de l'Ordre de la Couronne (Commander of Order of the Crown) by the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karel De Gucht. The presentation was made on behalf of His Majesty King Albert II and took place at a ceremony held in the Palais d'Egmont in Brussels. The award for Dr. Chang was conferred in recognition of his achievements, contributions and innovations in international transportation and trade. He


Green Mega Ship Makes Call at Port of Tacoma

Port of Tacoma officials joined officials of Evergreen Group and its Hatsu Marine Limited subsidiary to mark the arrival of the new S-type, 7,024-TEU (20-foot equivalent container unit) green mega ship – the second is a series of 10 Evergreen Group S-type vessels – designed with a host of environmental features designed to protect the oceans and harbors the ships call on throughout the world. Evergreen Group Chairman Dr Y F Chang is honored in Rotterdam with Commander in the Order of Orange-Nassau. Rickmers Charter Out Two Panamax Container Ships
