Transas, XVR Simulation Form Partnership

Transas has announced its new strategic cooperation with XVR Simulation to expand their maritime training capabilities and to deploy common complex projects in the safety and security simulation market. Transas and XVR Simulation have just entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was officially signed on the first day of the Transas Simulation User Conference 2016, in Singapore. The two will work close together to extend offers for existing and future customers of both parties.

As the world moves increasingly toward cleaner, efficient and more environmentally benign power sources, news from Germany today sees the high-profile MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH forming a development partnership with Darmstadt-based AKASOL GmbH, a subsidiary of Schulz Group (Tettnang) and one of the leading manufacturers of Li-ion battery systems for high performance applications. The partnership is aimed to develop and deliver battery systems for MTU’s hybrid and e-drive propulsion systems for marine, rail and industrial applications.

African, Chinese Shipbuilders Form Partnership

Southern African Shipyards (SAS) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China Shipbuilding Trading Company (CSTC), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, in a union between the largest shipyard in Southern Africa and the largest shipbuilding group in the world. Operation Phakisa was launched by President Jacob Zuma in 2014. One of its two key focus areas is to develop South Africa’s maritime economy in sectors such as marine transport and manufacturing and offshore oil and gas.

BMT and Charta Software Form Partnership

BMT ARGOSS (BMT) and Charta Software have announced a partnership to develop a multifunctional software package named METRIS, (Modelsysteem voor Evaluatie Tijpoortregeling en RIsico’S bodemberoering), meaning ‘Model system to evaluate tidal admission policy and risk of seabed touchdown’, for the Dutch Directorate-General. The partnership aims to meet clientele needs by combining BMT’s experience in heading analysis, vessel response behavior, weather forecasting and shallow water metocean conditions, with Charta’s ability to deliver high quality software.

Vizada, CLS Form Partnership for LRIT Tracking

Vizada, an independent satellite communications provider, and CLS, specializing in sustainable management of marine resources, environmental monitoring and maritime security, have signed a partnership to jointly provide long range identification and tracking (LRIT) to the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) and other Flag States including Vanuatu and Chile. Vizada is the first provider to have met the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) strict performance requirements for the delivery of LRIT, now mandatory for vessels on international voyages for security and search & rescue purposes. Through a significant upgrade to its teleport in France, Vizada ensures the reliable and secure transmission of report data to its partner CLS.

Barwil, Denholm Form Partnership

Barwil, the Wilh.Wilhelmsen Group's global provider of Port & Marine Services has acquired a 40 percent stake in Denholm Shipping Services Ltd. (DSS), owned by the UK-based Denholm Group. Coast Guard, NJ State Marine Police Form Partnership

Rear Adm. David Pekoske, Commander, First Coast Guard District, Rear Adm. Sally Brice O’Hara, Commander, Fifth Coast Guard District and New Jersey Acting Governor Richard J. Codey will formalize an important maritime security partnership at a signing ceremony to be held Liberty State Park at 2 p.m. Thursday. Wärtsilä and V.Ships to Form Partnership

Wärtsilä and V.Ships agreed to cooperate on the provision of a broad spectrum of marine technical services to third parties in the marine market. Wärtsilä and V.Ships plan to offer an integrated portfolio of services that encompasses the full lifecycle of ship's machineries at competitive cost. The new partnership offering of Ship and Technical Management Services embrace technical supervision, machinery maintenance planning, conditioned based maintenance and planning, software updates, training programs, spare parts and labor, logistics and accounting for technical management. The shortage of skilled labor and the increasing complexity of ship machinery represent a challenge for the marine industry.

NavSim and Indepth Navigation Form Partnership

A new partnership has been formed between NavSim Technology Inc. and Indepth Navigation to create a PC electronic charting system. NavSim’s software platform is designed to be intuitive, reliable and accurate. Based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, NavSim’s flagship product, BoatCruiser is reputable with recreational boaters worldwide. Realizing that sailors need some extra attention in navigation, NavSim recruited Indepth Navigation, a Nova Scotia company who has developed SailTimer, a unique tacking tool for sailors. ‘BoatCruiser SailBoat Edition’ offers sailors an innovative method to display the optimal sailing angle to predict the most effective tacking routes. Glendinning Marine and Yacht Controller Form Partnership

Glendinning Marine Products and Yacht Controller LLC have formed a strategic partnership to offer Glendinning’s Complete Controls Electronic Engine Control system with Yacht Controller’s wireless remote yacht command system. Glendinning vice president David Wollard made the announcement. Glendinning’s Complete Controls system offers an attractive control head, complete feature set, easy “plug and play” installation and an optional automatic backup control capability. Shipping Solutions Form Partnership With NextLinx

Shipping Solutions is teaming up with NextLinx Corporation to offer NextLinx's compliance database in an upcoming release of its export documentation software due out in April 2003. Companies and individuals who export to entities on any of the restricted parties lists or who export goods without a required export license can lose their export privileges, be fined or even be criminally prosecuted. Prior to this partnership, small and medium-sized exporters often couldn't afford access to databases that simplified the compliance process. "In response to increased security concerns, U.S. Customs and the Bureau of Industry and Security have placed a greater emphasis on the end-use and end-users of exported items," said David Noah, president of Shipping Solutions.

BIW And Energy Research Corp. Form Partnership

The Advanced Technology Division of Bath Iron Works (BIW) and the Energy Research Corporation (ERC) have partnered to develop an advanced carbonate-based fuel cell energy plant for defense marine applications. The partnership is an effort to improve ship electric power generation (also known as ship hotel power), with the development of the high efficiency Direct Fuel Cell (DFC) Ship Service Fuel Cell. "The establishment of this alliance marks the beginning of a process we believe will lead to the development of the first new power generation technology for surface ships since nuclear power was adopted for aircraft carriers," said Jerry Leitman, president and CEO of ERC.
