USMMA Seeks Marine Transport Professors

Medevac from Tugboat Near Kings Point

The man was medevaced after complaining of stomach pains while on board the 99-foot tugboat, , which was anchored under the Throg's . MERPAC Meeting

Kumar to Lead MARAD Education and Training

Kumar, Academic Dean at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), has accepted a position to serve as Deputy Associate Administrator and National Coordinator for Maritime Education and Training at the headquarters of the Maritime Administration (MARAD).   Kumar will leave USMMA in October to take up his new role at MARAD, where he will lead its efforts to bolster the nation’s pool of merchant mariners and halp to address the needs of State and Federal maritime

USMMA's Murphy Hall to get Refit

J. Kokolakis Contracting, Inc., , is being awarded an $11,412,000 firm-fixed-price construction contract for renovations at U. S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point. The work to be performed provides for the renovation of Murphy Hall, a three-story dormitory, and includes demolition and replacement of all interior finishes, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, intercommunication and fire protection systems. The work will be performed in , and is expected to be completed by Sept. 2009

Rodriguez Appointed Deputy Maritime Administrator
