New Board at Kvaerner Masa-Yards
A new Board of Directors has been elected for Kvaerner Masa-Yards Inc.. Chairman: Leif-Arne Langøy (President and CEO, Aker Kvaerner Yards AS) Members: Jorma Eloranta (President and CEO, Kvaerner Masa-Yards Inc.), Karl Erik Kjelstad (Executive Vice President, Aker Kvaerner Yards AS), Oddvar Slettevold (Executive Vice President, Aker Kvaerner Yards AS) and Trond Ø. Westlie (Chief Financial Officer, Kvaerner ASA). Aarne Ukkola and Jorma Malinen continue as representatives of the personnel.
Piikkio Works Established Under Kavaerner-Masa Yards
A separate company, Piikkio Works Oy, has been established under Kvaerner Masa-Yards Inc. as a result of transfer of assets. The new company continues as of January 1, 2002, the operations of Kvaerner Masa-Yards Piikkio Works, which previously was a separate business unit within Kvaerner Masa-Yards Inc. The reason for incorporating the company is the independent and different nature of Piikkio Works business activities as a builder of prefabricated cabin and bathroom modules.
Kvaerner Masa-Yards Releases Financial Results
The Aker Kvaerner Group has published its results for period of January-September 2003. Kvaerner Masa-Yards Business Area produced for this period an EBITA and operating profit of EUR 73 million (575 MNOK) and a net sales of EUR 625 million (4.930 MNOK). Wärtsilä Engines for Russian Icebreaker
Wärtsilä won an order for four engines for installation on the first Sakhalin ice breaker to be built by the Kvaerner Masa-Yards shipyard in Finland. The vessel will be equipped with three 8-cylinder Wärtsilä 38 main engines in diesel electric drive and an additional 6-cylinder Wärtsilä 20 engine to power a harbor/emergency generating set. Aker Yards Extends Option for Second Ultra Voyager
Kvaerner Masa-Yards, part of Aker Yards, announces that it has agreed with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. to extended an option to purchase a second Ultra Voyager ship, scheduled for delivery in 2007. Royal Caribbean and Kvaerner Masa-Yards Inc., have agreed to extend the option to September 30, 2004. The option was to have expired on August 31, 2004.
TTS to Deliver for World's Largest Cruise Ship
TTS Ships Equipment AB, a subsidiary of Norway’s TTS Group will deliver specially designed and built cargo access gear for installation aboard the Ultra Voyager cruise vessel, currently under construction at the Kvaerner Masa Yard in Finland. Kvaerner To Deliver Prefabricated Cabins
German shipyard SSW Fähr- und Spezialschiffbau GmbH from Bremerhaven and Kvaerner-Masa Yards, Piikklö Works have signed a contract for the delivery of prefabricated cabins for two passenger/car ferries. The ferries will be sent to German shipowner TT-Line for operation on the Baltic Sea.
Kvaerner To Build Cruise Ship For Carnival
Carnival Corporation contracted with Finland's Kvaerner Masa-Yards for the construction of a new 86,000-ton cruise ship for its Carnival Cruise Lines unit. The 2,124-passenger vessel, the fourth in Carnival's "Spirit-class," will cost approximately $375 million and is expected to enter service in spring 2004. To be named Carnival Miracle, the new vessel will join sister ships Carnival Spirit, set to debut April 29, 2001, and Carnival Pride and Carnival Legend
Radio Holland Will Equip Cruise Vessel
The cruise vessel, Costa Mediterranea, under construction for Costa Crociere S.p.A. by Kvaerner Masa-Yards Inc., will be equipped with AV products by Radio Holland Marine (Rotterdam). The large order includes CCTV, stabilized satellite TV dishes, head-end equipment and a complete TV distribution system. Radio Holland has an AV department in Rotterdam that specializes in AV systems, engineering, installing and commissioning these entertainment systems on board of ships.
Sperry Marine to Install System on New Color Line Cruise Ferry
Color Line, an Oslo-based ferry operator, has selected Northrop Grumman Corporation's Sperry Marine business unit to supply navigation and communication systems for the world's largest cruise ferry, under construction at the Kvaerner-Masa-Yards in Turku, Finland. Carnival Takes Delivery of Carnival Miracle
