RIBCRAFT Completes RIB Series for California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife recently took delivery of three more RIBCRAFT 5.85’s. With these additional boats, all of the Department’s long range fisheries patrol crafts now operate with a new RIBCRAFT 5.85 onboard. The rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) are deployed for boarding and enforcement up to 200 miles offshore. The delivery of these 19’ RIBs completes the fleet with four others already in service.The new purpose built shipboard RIBCRAFT RIBs renewed the CAFW’s aging and varied fleet.

RIBCRAFT Wins Multiple Contracts
Having recently taken delivery of two new RIBCRAFT 5.85 rigid inflatable boats (RIB), the California Department of Fish and Wildlife awarded the Massacusetts-based builder another contract, to supply and deliver shipboard RIBs for its fleet of long range fisheries patrol boats.The RIBs already delivered will be used by the agency's Southern District, which covers all of Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles and San Diego counties. The vessels will be operated by one or two wardens for patrol and enforcement operations.

Lowell Police Takes Delivery of new RIBCRAFT

Industrial lighting company Larson Electronics has released a 70 watt explosion proof LED light fixture mounted on an adjustable beam clamp to simplify mounting on existing beams. The new EPL-LP-70W-LED-HDBC-20-EPP beam clamp mounted LED fixture is weatherproof and comes with an adjustable aluminum mount that makes it suitable for industrial applications, maintenance, cleaning and servicing duties, as well as large hazardous work areas. Industrial lighting specialist Larson Electronics announced the release of a 30 watt LED deck light equipped with a 360° spindle that allows for complete rotation while being permanently mounted. The DL-APB-LED-30W permanent mount LED deck light from Larson Electronics provides operators with a high powered lighting solution in applications where a low voltage light is preferred. The 30 watt PAR46 LED light emitter in this unit is highly resistant to damage from shocks and vibration as well as up to 80 percent more efficient than incandescent lights.
Hougen Debuts Redesigned Magnetic Drill
Hougen Manufacturing, Inc. has redesigned its HMD904 portable magnetic drill to include new improvements and features. The newest innovation is the mag drill pilot light. The LED light is built into the base of the magnet and allows the operator to more efficiently and quickly line up the pilot with the holes center location in low light or no light conditions. Powering the drill is a proprietary Hougen motor with a new design to the aluminum casing to improve durability. The addition of a two stage magnet increases magnetic holding power by 30 percent when the drill motor is turned on.
AMSA Upgrading Cape Byron Lighthouse
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is currently undertaking renovation and upgrade works at the Cape Byron Lighthouse in New South Wales. The first stage of the project started in late April and involves removing the existing paint from the inside of the lighthouse and repainting the exterior walls of the lighthouse. walls will be completely painted white, reverting to the lighthouse’s earliest known colour scheme. The lighthouse has had various coloured lower bands over the years. The painting works are expected to be completed by early June 2015. AMSA will also be upgrading the light source of the lens to a modern LED (light emitting diode) after painting works are complete as part of a trial.

Heavy-Duty Sea-Fire Systems Protect Crew and Tugs
To meet strict international codes, the marine transportation and logistics services company Signet Maritime Corporation recently installed Sea-Fire suppression and detection systems on three new tugs. Two of the vessels are 100' x 40' RAstar 3100 Class Terminal Support/Escort tugs. Built by Trinity Offshore, M/V Signet Stars & Stripes and M/V Signet Constellation were recently christened in Gulfport, Mississippi. The third, M/V Signet Weatherly, is a 108' x 40' 4" RAmparts 3200 ASD tug, built by Signet Shipbuilding, and was delivered March 10, 2012. Each tug is protected by a custom-engineered, automatic Sea-Fire FM-200 fire suppression system and FireStop Detection system. An EPA-approved alternative to halon, FM-200 is safe for people and equipment.
