Baksaas Appointed DNV GL’s Chair of the Board

Former Telenor CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas has been appointed as DNV GL’s new chair of the board, the Norwegian-headquartered classification society announced.Best known for his 13-year tenure as president and CEO of the telecoms firm, Baksaas started his career with DNV (as it was then known) and spent six years at the company before leaving in 1985. Liberian Registry Strengthens Asia Team

The Liberian Registry has announced strategic new appointments in a number of key areas within the Asian regional offices operated by its US-based manager, the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry (LISCR). Wan Ching Chiang has been promoted to Registrations Manager for the Liberian Registry in Singapore. Chiang is embarking on her fifth year with the Liberian Registry, which she joined as Registrations and Corporate Coordinator. In her new role, she will be overseeing vessel mortgage and corporate registrations for the Liberian Registry’s fast- growing number of South-East Asian clients. Chiang graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and has previous experience with working in the financial industry with both HSBC and Barclays Capital.

Two Additions to LOC's Singapore Team

London Offshore Consultants (LOC), a leading global marine and engineering consultancy for the shipping and offshore energy industry, has boosted its presence in Singapore with two new appointments – Mark Board as Marine Consultant, and Dan Niklas Ahlgren as Naval Architect. Mark joined LOC Singapore as Marine Consultant in September 2016. He brings with him experience in bulk carriers, roll on–roll off vessels, FSO’s and container ships. He also has an extensive experience at all ranks on board oil tankers, spending the bulk of his 23 years at sea in Aframax carriers, and sailed as Master in product tankers. Since then, he has spent 18 years in shore management, and has led investigations on collisions, groundings, and worked closely with port authorities in oil spill response.

U.S. shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced today a number of changes across its leadership team. HII’s Board of Directors has elected Christopher D. Kastner to succeed Barbara A. Niland as the company’s chief financial officer and corporate vice president, business management, effective with Niland’s retirement on March 1, 2016. Furthermore Philip Luna, corporate vice president and president, UniversalPegasus International (UPI), a subsidiary of HII, has been promoted to the HII senior executive team, effective immediately.

Semco Maritime strengthens Management Team

The international contracting and engineering company Semco Maritime has strengthened its Aberdeen team with three new appointments to support its continued growth. Brian Donaldson takes up the role of business development manager, with Colin Stewart and Gustav Ferrao appointed as assistant accountant and senior systems engineer respectively. Donaldson is a mechanical engineer and a member of the Institute of Measurement & Control. Donaldson's primary focus is to grow Semco's business in the UK, particularly in regards to Aberdeen based clients. “It is exciting to join Semco's team at this important phase in the company’s development,” said Donaldson. As assistant accountant, Stewart will support the Aberdeen-based finance team with the accountancy operations of Semco's UK facilities.

Global marine engineering consultancy LOC Group (London Offshore Consultants) announced appointments in two new positions; John Quarrington has joined the company in London as Group Marine Warranty Surveying Manager and Mark McGurran has been appointed to the Singapore office in the role of Asia Regional Hull & Machinery Coordinator. John Quarrington is based in London where he will be supporting the Group Energy Services Director (Alex Harrison) with the continued development of LOC’s global marine warranty surveying activities across its 33 offices. Leighton Holdings Announces Appointment Of MDs

Leighton Holdings announced the appointment of Four Managing Directors. Construction will be led by David Jurd, who is currently the Executive General Manager of Leighton Contractors’ Infrastructure Division. Mining will be led by Bruce Munro, who is currently Managing Director of Thiess. PPPs will be led by Angel Muriel, who is currently Leighton Holdings’ Chief Development Officer. Engineering will be led by Craig Laslett, who is currently Managing Director of Leighton Contractors. Ian Edwards will continue to lead Leighton Asia, India and Offshore; Glenn Palin will continue to lead John Holland; and Mark Gray will continue to lead Leighton Properties. Leighton also announced the branding of the construction and mining businesses.

The new appointments in Singapore and London are part of IRClass’ strategic plan to expand its capabilities and geographical reach to meet growing demand in these vital markets. Trelleborg Opens Houston Office

Trelleborg’s marine systems operation announces plans to open a new sales and business development office in Houston, Texas, U.S. Trelleborg said it will establish a local “feet on the ground” presence in the area and confirms the company’s commitment to the global oil and gas industry. Citing growth in the region as a strategic priority, Trelleborg Marine Systems will relocate its USA President, Faiyaz Kolsawala, to operate from Houston as well as a number of its global sales team, including a specialist docking and mooring representative and a dedicated oil and gas transfer and vessel technology salesperson to provide a closer relationship with customers in the area and the reassurance of a face-to-face presence.

Dynamic Oil Expands Middle East Operations

Three new appointments announced as recruitment drive to support expanding customer base continues. Dynamic Oil Trading has announced a series of appointments at the company’s recently launched Dubai office, amid continued expansion of the firm’s Middle East operation. Bunker traders Leonore Lagendijk and Mirko Antichi, as well as accountant Sheila Oller will join Dynamic Oil Trading’s Dubai operation with immediate effect. Leonore comes to the role with three and a half years’ trading experience, having previously held trading jobs at O.W. Bunker Middle East DMCC and BP.

Keppel Charts The Next Lap Of Growth

The Board and Management of Keppel Corporation Limited (Keppel Corp) has announced  the Group's holistic succession plan in charting its next lap of growth. On 1 January 2014, Mr Choo Chiau Beng, 65, CEO of Keppel Corp, will be succeeded by CFO Mr Loh Chin Hua. Peak Reinsurance Company Ltd., a Hong Kong reinsurer backed by Fosun International Limited and International Finance Corporation, announced four appointments to strengthen its underwriting and research capabilities in the Asia Pacific region.
