Canyon Offshore Purchases Triton ROVs

Canyon Offshore has purchased three new Triton XLS Work Class Remotely Operated Vehicles from Perry Slingsby Systems, Inc. Triton XLS, a new deepwater, 100-horsepower vehicle is specifically designed for deep and ultra deepwater operations. Depth-rated to 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) and equipped to carry a payload of 200 kg. (440 lbs.), the Triton XLS series improves the controls, performance and features of the Triton XL with greater depth capabilities, and a significantly longer 390-meter (2,130-foot) tether cable deployed from the proven Triton Top Hat Tether Management System. The XLS’s 3,000 kg (6,600 lbs.) of lifting capability provides a platform for a wide variety of tooling modules, including trenching skids, flowline connector modules, and other intervention tooling skids. Canyon Offshore will take delivery of the XLS 1 and 2 in April 2003 and XLS 3 in May 2003. The vehicles will be available worldwide to support Canyon Offshore’s activities in the Gulf of Mexico, Asia Pacific and the North Sea. Canyon Offshore operates one of the world’s largest fleet of Perry Slingsby work class ROV systems.


Offshore Rig Counts Unchanged

The number of mobile offshore drilling rigs under contract is unchanged from last week, according to Offshore Data Services' weekly mobile offshore rig count. In the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, 139 of 190 mobile offshore drilling rig are under contract this week. U.S. Gulf drilling fleet utilization is 73.2 percent. Among the working rigs is a new deepwater drillship, which has moved to its first drilling location. In the North Sea, Mediterranean Sea and other European waters


Maersk Chooses DCT Gdansk

Friede Goldman Signs $143 Million Contract to Build Millennium SA

Friede Goldman International Inc. (FGI) has signed a $143.2 million contract with Rudgil SA, a subsidiary of Schahin Engenharia e Comercio Ltda. of Brazil, for the construction of a Friede Goldman-designed "Millennium SA." The Millennium SA (South America) is the latest in new, deepwater semisubmersible designs from FGI subsidiary Friede & Goldman, Ltd., (F&G) a New Orleans-based naval architecture and marine engineering company.


Offshore Newfoundland Geophysical Survey Contract Awarded

PGS in cooperation with TGS begins data acquistion on  a new 20,000 km MultiClient 2D survey over the Northeast Newfoundland Shelf. Aker Solutions Wins Drilling Equipment Contracts

Aker Solutions signed two contracts with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) for the delivery of complete drilling equipment packages for two new deepwater drillships. The contracts have a total value of about $230m. The drilling equipment and systems will be installed on the two vessels, which are being constructed at DSME's yard in South Korea.  Each delivery has a contract value of about $115 million, and includes options for additional equipment and services.


APL: Vietnam Seaport Master Plan Must Have Long-Term Focus
