Braemar Acquires US Shipbroker Southport

International shipbroker Braemar announced on Monday that it has acquired Southport Maritime, one of the highest volume U.S.-based shipbroking tanker companies.With a particular focus on spot tanker fixtures, Southport’s 18-strong team will complement Braemar’s existing Tanker desks in London, Singapore, Madrid, Houston and Geneva.Braemar’s new offices in West Palm Beach and Winter Park Florida, will continue to be led by Michael Corey and Peter Tornaben, the co-founders of Southport Maritime.

Hapag-Lloyd Acquires DAL's Container Liner Business

Hapag-Lloyd announced it has closed its acquisition of the container liner business of German carrier Deutsche Afrika-Linien (DAL), as the German liner shipping company aims to continue its growth in the South African market.Hapag-Lloyd, which signed the framework agreement in March 2022, said the transaction has already been approved antitrust authorities and that full commercial integration is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2022.Hamburg-headquartered DAL operates four liner services between Europe, South Africa and the Indian Ocean, and its liner business (including agencies) employs more than 150 people. Berg Propulsion opened new offices in Istanbul to reinforce its presence in Turkey and the surrounding region. The operation will be led by Mustafa Müslüm, who has been appointed General Manager, Berg Propulsion Eurasia.Müslüm is familiar with the Berg Propulsion organization, having led regional activities on behalf of Berg Propulsion between 2005 and 2013 Istanbul and Dubai. IRI Opens New Offices in Vancouver and Qingdao

Expanding to strengthen support in Asia, International Registries, Inc. and its affiliates (IRI) opened offices in Vancouver, British Columbia and Qingdao, China today. Dellner Acquires Pintsch Bubenzer

Sweden’s Dellner Group with its subsidiary Dellner Brakes said it has signed an agreement to acquire German industrial braking manufacturer Pintsch Bubenzer in a deal it hopes will pave the way for the companies’ global expansion. This acquisition is being carried out in partnership with investment company Active Ownership Capital and comes four months after Dellner Brakes acquired U.S. brake and clutch company Gummi USA. New Port in Stockholm Inaugurated

Ports of Stockholm has expanded Stockholm by 85000 square metres, and built a new pier and passenger terminal. Värtahamnen has been under reconstruction since 2013. The rebuilding is part of the development of a completely new city district in Stockholm, the Stockholm Royal Seaport. Ports of Stockholm has built a new pier and passenger terminal, which the ferry operations at Värtahamnen have now moved to. The concentration of port operations to the pier has freed-up 85 000 square meters of land for urban development, making space for 12 000 new homes and 35 000 workplaces.
