The Brazilian administrative authority has suspended Italy's Saipem and its subsidiary Saipem do Brasil from contracting with the country's public administration for two years, the engineering and construction group said on Friday.The decision stems from the final ruling in the administrative proceedings initiated against the companies in relation to alleged irregularities in the award of a gas pipeline contract in 2011.The sanction has no impact on ongoing projects in Brazil, Saipem said, adding it would appeal the decision.In November, the Italian company said it had won two offshore contrac

Dutch engineering company Royal Boskalis Westminster  has been awarded two offshore contracts with a combined value of approximately EUR 85 million.For a new offshore windfarm in Taiwan, Boskalis will carry out the scour protection of the turbine foundations and in Denmark a four-kilometer-long gas pipeline will be installed in the seabed. The execution of both projects is scheduled to take place in 2020.In Taiwan, Boskalis was awarded a contract for the scour protection for the Yunlin offshore windfarm. The award was made by Yunneng Wind Power Co. Ltd. Boskalis will install rock on the seabed around the 71 monopile foundations serving as scour protection.In total 325,000 tons of rock sourced from local quarries in Taiwan will be installed using a fall-pipe vessel.

Saipem has been awarded contracts for the second phase of the ExxonMobil led Liza development offshore Guyana.These contracts, assigned by Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited (EEPGL), an affiliate of ExxonMobil, as the project operator, are in addition to those awarded to Saipem in 2017 for Liza Phase 1.Following engineering and subject to requisite government approvals, project sanction from the joint venture and an authorization to proceed with the next phase, Saipem will then perform detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the risers, flowlines, and associated structures and jumpers. Chilean provider of port, logistics and towage services SAAM ended the first half of 2017 with a net income of USD 43 million, showing a rise of 48.3 percent year-on-year basis. The provider of port, logistics and towage services in 13 countries in the Americas said that this  figure was strongly impacted by a non-recurring gain of US$26.9 million, mainly from the sale of its minority interest in Tramarsa. “Isolating the non-recurring effect, these results reflect the challenges we are facing in an industry experiencing consolidation. For this reason, we are working hard, and with a long-term outlook, to strengthen our current assets and evaluate new opportunities in the region.

Having recently supplied the concept design for DEME Group’s new offshore installation vessel Orion, C-Job Naval Architects said it will now provide COSCO OFFSHORE CO. Ltd (Qidong) with the vessel’s basic design package. Orion will be built at COSCO SHIPPING HEAVY INDUSTRY in China for delivery in 2019. The cruise business is booming, and Evac said it has benefitted directly with 40 percent annual growth. The cruise business is the fastest-growing category in the leisure travel market, and demand is outstripping supply with average annual passenger growth of over seven percent since 1980. Another record was broken in 2014, with annual occupancy rates exceeding 100 percent and 22.1 million passengers cruising to many of the world’s nearly 1,000 ports. Nearly 23 million passengers are expected to take a cruise in 2016. Cruise lines are currently ordering new vessels for launch during the 2018 to 2026 period, supporting growth of Evac, provider of integrated waste-, wastewater-, and water management systems for the marine, offshore and building industries.

Even as world energy prices continue to maintain low pricing levels, offshore contracts are there to be won. Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd has secured a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) conversion contract as well as three repair, upgrade and modification contracts worth a total of about S$125 million. The FPSO conversion project Keppel Shipyard will be undertaking is for Armada Madura EPC Limited, a joint venture between long-standing customer Bumi Armada Berhad (Bumi Armada) and Shapoorji Pallonji Group (Shapoorji Pallonji). "This is our third conversion/upgrading project for the joint venture," said Michael Chia, Managing Director (Marine & Technology), Keppel O&M.

Norwegian oil services firm Aker Solutions won two offshore contracts, including a 120 million pound ($188.82 million) deal to provide engineering, construction and commissioning services on Statoil's Mariner development in the UK, it said on Monday. The firm also won a two-year contract extension worth 360 million Norwegian crowns for asset integrity management work at 11 offshore and three onshore locations for Statoil in Norway. The scope of work includes subsea installation of umbilicals, flowlines and jumpers, as well as provision of services to support rigs. Bibby Ship Management announced it has secured two new contracts in the offshore oil and gas sector. Bibby Ship Management Singapore has been appointed as the technical and crewing managers for the OSX 2, an FPSO vessel, working in conjunction with overall project managers Tecnomar & Associates. The office has also secured a contract with Global Samson to take over the management of two Platform Supply Vessels, the newbuild Ocean Turquoise 1 and another vessel which is currently being finalized.

Brazilian state-run oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA suffered another setback in its effort to boost oil output last month when Italian contractor Saipem SpA dropped a 2.3 km steel pipe into the Atlantic Ocean. On March 16, the rigging used to wrangle the pipe into position on a floating oil platform failed, and the high-grade, metal-alloy tubes plunged about 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) to the seabed, a total, crumpled loss. The pipe itself was worth about $2 million but the cost of the accident will be much higher, two sources with direct knowledge of the situation told Reuters. By setting back efforts to expand Roncador, Brazil's No. 2 oil field, by at least a month, Petrobras will lose tens of millions of dollars in oil output, salaries and equipment leases when it can least afford it.

(Reuters) - Saipem has won new contracts for off-shore engineering and construction in Congo and Indonesia worth a total $520 million, the Italian oil services group said on Monday. Saipem said parent company ENI had assigned a consortium led by Saipem a $1.1 billion contract to build a floating production unit (FPU) in Indonesia. "The FPU will be delivered at site ready for surf hook-up in 34 months," Saipem said in a note. In Congo, the group won a contract with Aker Solutions to build under-sea structures, including suction anchors, for the Moho project. Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd's (Keppel O&M) subsidiaries Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) and Keppel Nantong Shipyard Co. Ltd (Keppel Nantong) won five contracts worth about $120m in total. Singapore's EMAS, the operating brand of Ezra Holdings, announce that its Subsea Services (EMAS AMC) and Offshore Support Services (EMAS Marine) divisions have been awarded projects worth US$110 million. These projects will be executed in the Gulf of Mexico and the Asia-Pacific region. EMAS AMC’s project wins come from a national oil company operating in the Gulf of Mexico for a SURF type offshore installation project, while the other comes from an oil major operating in Asia for pipeline repair works.

Siem Offshore contracts Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. of Poland to construct a dynamically positioned Cable Lay Vessel (CLV). The associated gross project cost for the first vessel, scheduled for April 2015 and ready for operation, is approx. USD 85 million. The CLV has been designed in close cooperation with VARD Design and will have an overall length of 95.3 meters, a breadth of 21.5 meters, a cable payload of 4,250 tons and an accommodation for 60 persons. The CLV will be equipped with a state-of-the-art diesel-electric propulsion system consisting of four main generators providing power to two azimuth propulsion thrusters, two tunnel thrusters and one retractable thruster…

Within days of eachother Deep Ocean secures subsea offshore contracts in Australia, and in the North Sea. DeepOcean UK, Ltd., a subsidiary of DeepOcean Group Holding BV, contracted by Statoil AS for the installation and trenching of a Permanent Reservoir Monitoring (PRM) System on the Snorre oil field in the North Sea, Norwegian Sector. The project represents DeepOcean UK’s largest ever contract award. The multi-year project commences in 2013 and consists of the installation and trenching of circa 500km of subsea seismic cables and associated riser in water depths in excess of 300m. Once installed, the large seismic monitoring array will assist Statoil in increasing oil recovery from the Snorre reservoir throughout the field’s life.

Basic Offshore contracts with CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding to build two Havyard 832 L SE Platform Supply Vessels. Basic Offshore is a newly-established shipping company with its main focus on the market in West Africa, and they have an option of buying an additional six Havyard 832 L SE designed vessels from the shipyard. Both new ships on order are to be delivered in 2014. The Chinese state-owned shipyard CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding CO. Ltd. constructs both larger trade tonnage as well as specialized offshore vessels.

NOIA and IADC see broad, far reaching negative Impacts from EPA suspension of BP from US Government offshore contracts. The national trade associations, the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) and International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) consider that banning BP from bidding in future offshore lease sales could have a hugely negative ripple effect on drilling contractors and the rest of the offshore industry as well as the Gulf region, and even the Federal government. The offshore oil and gas industry, which is based almost entirely in the Gulf of Mexico, supported over 200,000 American jobs in 2010 and contributed nearly $80 billion in revenues to the Federal government from 2001-2010.

Aker Solutions has been awarded two contracts from Island Offshore to provide well intervention services for Statoil in the North Sea. Scope of work is to deliver downhole well intervention services from Island Offshore's two riserless well intervention vessels Island Frontier and Island Wellserver. These operations include running of mechanical wireline, electrical wireline and wireline tractor services. The two contracts are valid for five years plus two optional two-year extensions (5+2+2). They will run from 2015, when the current contracts expire.

Nearly two years ago, the Obama Administration tightened rules for removing “idle iron” – old oil platforms and pipelines – and on plugging unused wells in the Gulf of Mexico. That September 2010 move was part of a federal crackdown on deepwater oil and gas operations following the 2010 BP spill. Since then, heavy-lift companies have continued to rid the Gulf of unused structures and other firms have positioned themselves for that work. Under the 2010 rules, wells that hadn't been used for five years were to be abandoned or “zonally isolated” within three years after Oct. 15, 2010.

DOF Subsea AS secures contracts in Asia, Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico regions with total value of about US$50-million. In the Asia Pacific Region DOF Subsea have secured several new contracts and extension of existing contracts with a total contract value of about US$ 20-million. The contract award will increase the utilisation of the region’s vessels Geobay, Skandi Singapore and Skandi Hercules. In the Atlantic region DOF Subsea have been awarded several new contracts and extension of existing contracts with a total contract value of USD 24 millions.

Saipem has been awarded new E&C Offshore contracts worth $1.1 billion in Brazil, Angola and the Caspian Sea. In Brazil, Saipem has signed an EPIC contract with Petrobras for the projects Sapinhoá Norte and Cernambi Sul, within the development of the Pre-Salt Risers in the Santos Basin, approximately 300 kilometres off the coasts of the Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo states, in water depths of 2,200 metres. Petrobras is operator of the BM-S-09 consortium with BG and Repsol and the BM-S-11 consortium with Galp and Repsol. The scope of work encompasses the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and pre-commissioning of the SLWR (Steel Lazy Wave Riser) for the collection system at the Sapinhoá Norte field…

Offshore construction & services provider Swiber wins SE Asia & Latin America contracts worth altogether about US$ 143-million. The contracts comprise an approximate US$100 million contract for offshore construction work in Southeast Asia; and an approximate US$43 million contract for the charter of a construction vessel that will be deployed to Latin America this year. Work for the US$100 million contract is expected to commence in Q1 2013 with expected completion by Q3 2013.
