Saipem Wins Offshore Contracts Worth $230m

Saipem has been awarded two new offshore contracts in Kazakhstan and Egypt worth a total value of $230 million. Agip KCO awarded the Saipem and Aker Kvaerner unincorporated consortium a contract as part of the experimental programme of the Kashagan field development in the Caspian Sea. The contract includes early work activities for the hook-up and commissioning of the offshore facilities as well as for the inshore completion to be executed in the Kuryk yard. The scope of work also includes the procurement, refurbishment and preparation of five barges which will be converted into temporary living quarters and offices, as well as temporary barges for power generation, tool sheds and warehouses. Petrobel has awarded the Saipem and PMS consortium the contract for the laying of a 32” pipeline connecting the El-Gamil gas processing plant with an existing platform located in the Denise Pliocene gas field. The field is located 60 kilometres off the coast of Egypt in water depths of up to 85 metres. Saipem’s scope of work includes engineering, project management, transportation and installation of the sealine and precommissioning. The marine activities will be carried out by Crawler vessel in the second half of 2007.

SembCorp Brazil Wins $149M Offshore Contract

SembCorp Marine Ltd.'s Brazilian joint venture had secured its first contract, worth $149 million, for the fabrication of topside production modules in offshore Brazil. The firm said the contract for Maua Jurong SA, the Brazilian joint-ventue of Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd, was to build topside fabrication modules for the Barracuda and Caratinga fields in offshore Brazil. It said the contract was awarded by Halliburton Productos Ltda, the Brazilian affiliate of Kellog Brown & Root Inc

Exxon Awards Horizon Offshore Contract

Horizon Offshore Contractors, Inc. has been awarded a contract for the installation of a portion of Exxon Pipeline Company's Hoover Offshore Oil Pipeline System (HOOPS). The 20-in. pipeline project includes a directionally drilled shore approach near Freeport, Texas, and pipelay to a depth of 35 ft. and the burial of approximately 67 miles of pipeline. The project will utilize three of Horizon's vessels. Cajun Horizon will be used for offshore directional drilling support

Moody's Ups Transocean Offshore

Moody's Investors Service upgraded the senior unsecured debt ratings of Transocean Offshore, Inc. to A3 from Baa1 to reflect the significant benefits that the company will likely derive from its pending merger with Sedco Forex Holdings Limited (Sedco). The rating action ends a review of Transocean's ratings initiated on July 12 in response to the company's announcement that it had signed a definitive agreement under which Sedco, the offshore contract drilling business of Schlumberger Limited

Halifax Shipyard won another offshore contract. The Irving Shipyard in Halifax, Nova Scotia has landed a contract to modify and refit the Glomar Grand Banks semi-submersible drill rig. The work will be completed at the Irving facility in Woodside. The job, which was commissioned by Global Sante Fe of Houston, Texas, will employ 350 people for a minimum of three months starting in January. The Rig will tie up at Woodside Facility on the December 19, and prepare for the upgrade

Transocean Ltd. announce Nick Deeming has resigned as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary. Mr Deeming resigned for personal reasons, and the company expressed its gratitude for his service.
