Skipsteknisk Design for Volstad

According to a report from Offshore Shipping Online, naval architect company, Skipteksnisk, has confirmed that Volstad Maritime in Aalesund, Norway ordered another seismic research vessel based on a Skipsteknisk design. Project Seeks to Increase Energy Efficiency in Offshore Shipping

A project has been established to identify energy efficiency and fuel saving initiatives for the offshore shipping industry.  The partnership involves a collaboration of seven Norwegian offshore shipping companies. The Joint Industry Project is called Energy Efficient Offshore Partners, and consists of: BOA Offshore, Eidesvik Offshore, Farstad Shipping, Gulf Offshore Norge, Havila Shipping, Siem Offshore and Solstad Offshore

Garware Offshore Plans Shipbuilding Yard with Norway Firm

Mumbai-based Garware Offshore Services Ltd., a company that offers ships for oil and gas exploration activities, plans to enter the shipbuilding business by setting up an exclusive facility for making offshore support vessels. This shipbuilding yard will be a joint venture with Norway-based ship manufacturer Havyard Leirvik AS, promoted by Havyard Group AS. Havyard Leirvik is a leader in making offshore ships, ice-breaking ships and other types of specialized vessels.

Consilium Navigation AB Acquires BSH Approval

Sweden-based company, Consilium Navigation AB has recently acquired BSH (Bundesamt fur Seeschiffahrt und Hydrographie) type approval for their voyage data recorder system, VDR M2. Consilium Navigation AB is the first company to acquire Type Approval with BSH, and is also one of the first companies offering type-approved Voyage Data Recorders, establishing its leading role within VDRs New orders have also been received lately

Solstad Offshore Sells Vessels

Norwegian offshore shipping company Solstad Offshore ASA said on Monday (26 May) that its 71.1%-owned ship-owning subsidiary Normand Skarven KS has agreed to sell its anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel Normand Skarven to foreign buyers.  The sales price for the 1986-built vessel was said to be "around its average broker value as per 31.12.2007" and to result in a gain of approximately NOK130m for Solstad Offshore

OSD Appoints Technical Director
