Optimarin Cements Offshore BWT Market Share

Ballast water treatment (BWT) specialist Optimarin says over 50% of its system orders now placed for PSVs, AHTS and associated, advanced service vessels. According to CEO Tore Andersen, the last six months alone have seen 16 new agreements signed, pushing the number of offshore system orders beyond the 160-unit mark. Norway’s Golden Energy Offshore is the latest firm to opt for Optimarin’s market proven system, with units ordered for two ULSTEIN designed PX121H PSVs currently under construction at the Nantong Rainbow yard in China.

Viking Strengthens Partnership with Lobby Marine Veteran

Viking Offshore & Marine Limited has announced it would participate in the ownership of a second cantilever drilling jack-up rig, further strengthening its partnership with Singapore rig veteran, Chan Kwan Bian as it accelerates its entry into mainstream offshore rig chartering. SGX Catalist-listed Viking said its wholly-owned Viking Asset Management Pte. Ltd. (VAM) will invest US$5.4 million to take a 30%-stake in Quick Booms Investments Limited (“QBI”), a special purpose vehicle controlled by Chan which has a contract with a yard to build the CJ46-X100-D GustoMSC designed for use in water depth up to 375 feet and can accommodate 120 men during operation.

CT Systems unveils the all new Viking Offshore software. Viking Offshore is specifically designed for use on a wide range of offshore vessels, ranging from a Tug to a large Jackup rig. Viking Offshore continues on the foundations and success of the existing Viking Navigation software. OSI, MSI Join Forces for Navy Training

Offshore Systems International Ltd. and MarineSafety International signed a Memorandum of Agreement to offer ECDIS-N (Electronic Chart Display Instrumentation Systems-Navy) training to the U.S. Navy. Under the agreement, MarineSafety has purchased Offshore System's proprietary Electronic Chart Precise Integrated Navigation System (ECPINS-M) for installation at MarineSafety's three training facilities. Offshore Systems will install ECPINS in classrooms and on the full-mission bridge simulators at MarineSafety's ship-handling training centers located on U.S. Navy bases in Norfolk and San Diego, and at MarineSafety's training center in Newport, Rhode Island. Schat-Harding Launches KISS Offshore System

Schat-Harding has launched the first in a new series of simple, easy-to-maintain and space-saving boats and davits for the offshore and merchant marine industries. The KISS700 50-person lifeboat and FAD7 davit, specifically targeted at the offshore industry, will be on show at OTC, Houston. Keep it Safe and Simple (KISS) is the philosophy behind the new system, and the same philosophy will eventually be used to revise Schat-Harding's entire range of conventional and freefall systems. The KISS700 boat and FAD7 davits offer a new conventional boat design, a new davit design, with new hooks and winches. The benefits of the KISS system are savings in weight, savings in space, increased and simplified functionality and reduced maintenance.

Coast Guard Chooses ECPINS

Offshore Systems Ltd. announced that its sister company, CHI Systems, the U.S. Systems Operations of OSI Geospatial has recently been awarded a contract to provide the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) with ECPINS navigation systems. The systems will be installed on nine ice breaking tugs (seven new installations and two upgrades to existing units) and one shore base facility. The ECPINS solution comprises of Offshore System’s industry leading software, including specific USCG functionality and hardware components specifically designed for the bridge environment of this vessel class. OSI currently has a U.S. Coast Guard installed base of 34 vessels and this contract will bring the total to 41 vessels.
