Lowrance Support for Power-Pole Shallow Water Anchors

  Lowrance announced the upcoming software update for the HDS Gen3 fishfinder/chartplotter series — enabling wireless compatibility with the complete line of C-Monster compatible Power-Pole products. These efficient hydraulic anchors and all-electric Micro Anchor products quickly and quietly anchor fishing boats and kayaks in shallow-water situations. A simple touchscreen control on the Lowrance High Definition System (HDS) Gen3 display allows anglers to wirelessly engage the anchor — saving anglers additional steps and minutes, so they can focus on fishing. First announced in December 2014, the HDS Gen3 7-, 9- and 12-inch models offer a unique combination of professional-level features and easy-to-use operation. Full boat integration and system control are core areas where Lowrance products excel. The innovative Lowrance SmartSteer™ user interface allows anglers to intuitively switch between electric-steer, trolling-motor as well as outboard-motor control. The system also allows users to easily convert trails to routes to retrace a previous track and to make the perfect pass by fish or structure. Power-Pole Shallow Water Anchor control directly from the HDS Gen3 display, greatly enhances the system’s capabilities and ensures anchoring in the easiest way possible.


MacGregor Wins Deck Machinery Order in China

MacGregor has expanded its winch portfolio

  MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has signed contracts with Chinese shipyard Guangzhou Shunhai Shipyard Ltd to deliver anchor handling/towing winch packages for five 48m anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels, each with a 75-tonne bollard pull and one 40m AHTS vessel with a 70-tonne bollard pull. The vessels are under construction for an undisclosed Middle East owner. The order was booked into third quarter 2015 order intake.  


From China to Italy

South China Shipyard (SCS) in is putting the final touches on a sturdy new anchor-handling tug for delivery to Italian buyers. The 42 by 11-meter vessel is powered by a pair of 60 liter V-16 Cummins QSK60 main engines. Each engine delivers 2200 hpat 1800 RPM into Reintjes WAF763 gears with 5.75:1 ratios and four-blade fixed-pitch propellers in nozzles. Electrical needs are met by a pair of Cummins QSM11 powered 240 Kw generators with a harbor set that is a Cummins-powered 60 KW generator.


Karachi, Pakistan, Power Ships Idle Worsen Outages

Rolls-Royce Wins Italian Shipyard Order

Rolls-Royce wins new order from Italian shipyard for integrated power, propulsion & equipment systems for anchor handling vessel Rolls-Royce has signed an £18 million contract with Italian shipyard Rosetti Marino S.p.A for the design and delivery of an integrated power & propulsion and equipment system for an anchor handling vessel. The vessel will be built for Augusta Offshore S.p.A and is a repeat order of a Rolls-Royce UT 712 CD due to be delivered in June from the same yard

Huntington Ingalls Industries'  reports that its Newport News Shipbuilding division has successfully completed anchor testing on the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), bringing the ship closer to its 2016 delivery to the U.S. Navy. Delivery: Damen Celtic Presence Felt With Research Vessel

Damen Shipyards Gorinchem has completed the research vessel Celtic Explorer for the Irish Marine Institute of Dublin. This outstanding 215-ft. (65-m) ship was constructed by Damen in partnership with the Vlissingen yard of Royal Schelde and follows two other important vessels previously delivered to Ireland, the research vessel "Celtic Voyager" and the buoy maintenance ship "Granuaille". The work to be carried out by this new vessel will include a National Seabed Survey in Irish waters

This past September the South China Shipyard located at Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, China delivered another in their successful series of 4400 hp, 137.8-ft by 36-ft-meter anchor handling tugs. The Kitty Fox II is classed BV 1 +HULL +Mach Special Service Multi-purpose AHT unrestricted navigation; the vessel is one of a continuing series. It is powered by a pair of 2200 hp Cummins QSK60-M main engines and is fitted with an anchor handling and towing winch set


MacGregor Winch Portfolio Wins Order from Marco Polo

MacGregor now offers an expanded portfolio comprising both MacGregor and Hatlapa products

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured a contract with the Marco Polo Shipyard Pte Ltd with its facilities in Batam, Indonesia, to supply deck equipment for two 76m, 9,000kW anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels with bollard pulls of 150 metric tons, to be constructed for Marco Polo Marine. There are options for two further vessels. Each shipset includes a high pressure windlass/mooring winch, tugger winches, capstans, storage reels and hydraulic power packs

Great Lakes Shipyard Performs USCG Drydocking

On April 25, Great Lakes Shipyard hauled out the U.S. Coast Guard’s 125’ x 52’ Aids to Navigation Barge (12001). Using the Shipyard’s 770-ton Marine Travelift, the yard lifted the 620-ton AToN barge quickly and easily, and placed it on drydocking blocks.
