Vard Delivers PSV to Simon Mokster for Arctic Ops
A Fincantieri unit Vard Aukra has delivered the LNG-powered PSV, Stril Barents to Simon Møkster Shipping. The LNG-powered platform supply vessel is built for operations in arctic areas and will start working for Eni at the Goliat field in the Barents Sea on a ten-year contract. Cooperation between VARD, Simon Mokster Shipping and Eni, has resulted in a unique custom built vessel that meets all requirements for operation under extreme conditions in the Barents Sea. The PSV features Vard 1 06 design and has combined platform supply and emergency response capabilities. The ship’s ten-year contract in the Barents Sea starts this month. Anne Jorunn Mokster, CEO of Simon Mokster Shipping, said that they were pleased with the cooperation with VARD.
Kleven Maritime to Build LNG-powered PSV for Remøy Shipping
The vessel is to be built at Kleven Maritime’s shipyard Kleven Verft. Total contract value for Kleven is around 400 million NOK. Rolls-Royce's First Gas Powered PSV Delivered
Rolls-Royce announce that Island Offshore has taken delivery of Island Crusader, the first gas powered Rolls-Royce offshore vessel. This new and advanced UT 776 CDG platform supply vessel, is the first of two ordered by Island Offshore. This is the first offshore vessel to feature lean burn gas engines as main engines. As a result Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions will be reduced by about 90 percent while Sulphur Oxide (SOx) emissions and particulates will be negligible. CO2 emissions will also be significantly reduced. The vessel is also equipped with two diesel engines for periods when it needs to operate away from gas supply. Island Crusader will operate in the North Sea undertaking transport, supply and service duties between onshore supply bases and offshore drilling sites.
Harvey Gulf Inks Deal With Trinity Offshore
In a contract worth $110 million, Trinity to build two dual fuel LNG-powered PSV’s for Harvey Gulf. Wartsila to supply integrated system that includes the dual-fuel machinery. 7 October 2011: Harvey Gulf International Marine has signed a deal with Trinity Offshore which will eventually produce the first two dual fuel LNG-powered offshore vessels under U.S. flag. The deal, reportedly worth at least $110 million, calls for the delivery of the first vessel in November 2013 with the second hull to follow about 4 months later. The vessels will be built in Trinity’s Gulfport location. Initially, Signal International was the frontrunner for the contract, but ultimately, Harvey Gulf chose Trinity.
Wärtsilä Wins Total Solution Order for LNG Vessel

Wärtsilä New LNG Powered PSV Order
Wärtsilä has received an order for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs). Norwegian operator Eidesvik Offshore has placed an order for its fifth gas PSV. All Eidesvik's gas PSVs, including this latest order, are designed by Wärtsilä and utilize Wärtsilä's unique dual-fuel technology. In addition to the complete design of the vessel, Wärtsilä's scope of supply for the new PSV includes the dual-fuel main engines and generating sets, the electrical power and propulsion system, integrated automation, and the power management system.
STX Norway Offshore to Build LNG Powered PSV
STX Norway Offshore has entered into a new contract with Olympic Shipping to build an LNG powered Platform Supply Vessel. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in Q1 2012. The new vessel is designed by STX Norway Offshore Design in Ålesund. The hull is to be built at Tulcea, Romania, and the vessel will be outfitted at Aukra. The vessel will be built according to the latest SPS regulations, which will give excellent stability under all weather conditions and the highest levels of security for the crew.
STX Europe to Build LNG Powered PSV for Solstad
