MBC To Receive New Tanker

Malaysian Bulk Carriers Bhd (MBC) expects the first of its four new medium-range tankers to be delivered next month, with the balance to be delivered in 2007. With the delivery of the four new mid-range tankers, the company's fleet size would increase to 21 vessels, Bernama reported. The cost of the tanker is about $30m-$31m per ship. (Source: Bernama)


Cruise West to Refurbish Spirit of Yorktown

Cruise West will refurbish and upgrade the 138-guest Spirit of Yorktown in fall 2007. Vietnam Receives New Ship Technology

The Viet Nam Ship Buiding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) with assistance from the Ship Design and Research Centre (CTO) of Poland, opened a training course for 30 local ship designers in Ha Noi on Oct. 13, according to a report on www.vnanet.com. Under the course, Polish experts will transfer advanced shipbuilding technology to the Vietnamese engineers, who will have opportunities to access the most sophisticated ship designing software.


Attica Receives New Superfast Ferry

Greek ferry operator Attica Enterprises took delivery of its new Superfast VII ferry, the first of four sister ships, from Howaldtswerke Werft (HDW) shipyards in Kiel, Germany. Attica's new ferries will be deployed in the Baltic Sea, serving routes between Germany and Finland and Germany and Sweden. Superfast VII will start commercial operations linking the German port of Rostock with Hanko in Finland on May 17, with Superfast VIII joining it in about six months


China Sees Record Ships Output

The output of China's shipbuilding industry reached a record 14.52 million dwt in 2006, making up close to one-fifth of the global total for the same year, according to official statistics. The Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (CSTIND) announced on Tuesday that the output of 2006 was 20 percent higher than that of the previous year. Lauro Shipping Receives New Cat from Rodriquez

On December 4, Rodriquez Cantieri Navali Spa delivered a new 131.2 x 34.4 ft. (40 x 10.5 m) catamaran to Lauro Shipping Company. The ceremony took place in the port of Fiumicino, Italy, the departure point for Lauro’s new high speed route to the Ponza island with its new catamaran, Maria Celeste Lauro. The vessel will be followed next year with two more catamarans that are under construction at Rodriquez. Maria Celeste Lauro is CityCat 40 catamaran, yard number 341


New Vessel Deliveries

Seacraft Shipyard Delivers Private Yacht Seacraft Shipyard Corp., Amelia, La., recently delivered M/V Sea Holly, a 110 ft. live-aboard long range yacht, designed for extended excursions. The entire exterior of the vessel was faired and painted to a yacht-quality finish and the bottom of the vessel was coated with a high-performance anti-fouling paint. On the aft main deck are a flat bottom skiff and a vee bottom runabout, both of which are secured on removable boat cradles


Navy Fleet Survey Team Receives New Boats

By Shannon Breland, Naval Oceanographic Office Public Affairs Fleet Survey Team (FST) took delivery of two 9-m SAFE Boat Defender-class survey boats on March 4. This delivery triples FST's organic boat inventory of C 130-deployable platforms. "These boats usher in a new and exciting era of FST surveying that will undoubtedly provide critical hydrographic information to the fleet for many years to come," said FST Commanding Officer Cmdr. Brian Connon.


ADNATCO Receives New Bulk Carrier

According to a report on MENAFN - Khaleej Times, the Abu Dhabi National Tanker Co. (ADNATCO) has taken delivery of a new bulk carrier dubbed MV Shah, the first of 15 new vessels to be delivered in the coming year.
