Construction of CSOV for Taiwan’s Offshore Wind Market Kicks Off in Vietnam

The steel cutting ceremony for the new Construction Service Operation Vessel (CSOV), being built by Damen for Ta San Shang Marine (TSSM), a joint venture between Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and Taiwan’s Ta Tong Marine, took place in Vietnam.The steel cutting ceremony for the CSOV was held on January 19, 2024 in Ha Long, just two months after the initial contract was signed.TSSM’s new CSOV will be named TSS Cruiser and will be delivered by Dutch shipbuilder Damen by late 2025.TSS Cruiser will be chartered to contractors supporting the offshore wind farms near the coast of Taiwan…

Sanford Orders Fishing Vessel from Damen Maaskant

Dutch shipbuilder Damen Maaskant said it has signed a contract with New Zealand based seafood company Sanford Limited for the design and build of a new scampi vessel for operations in the Southern Ocean.The vessel, based on the Damen Sea Fisher 3210 will be built to the latest standards in terms of sustainability, comfort and safety, the shipbuilder said. Inmarsat to Roll Out IoT Solution to More than 60 Zamil Offshore Vessels

Inmarsat, a mobile satellite communications services provider, will roll out an Internet-of-Things (IoT) solution to more than 60 of Saudi-based Zamil Offshore's vessels in the Gulf area.The solution - powered by Fleet Connect and Fleet Data delivered through Inmarsat’s Fleet Xpress - will allow Zamil to identify, trial and select the best solutions to meet vessel performance expectations set by its charterer, Saudi Aramco. The news of the deal between Inmarsat and Zamil Offshore follows a successful trial on the fleet’s anchor tug, Zamil 57.

Damen Delivers Cutter Suction Dredge from Stock in 44 Days

Dutch shipbuilding group Damen reports it has delivered a new cutter suction dredge (CSD) to HAC Cranes for an end user in Kuwait.The stationary CSD650 dredger, named GD4000, was mobilized from stock and outfitted, inspected and delivered from the yard to its final destination, all in just 44 days from contract signature. Electric Tug Sparky Chistened in Auckland

Sparky, a new all-electric ship handling tugboat, has been christened in Auckland, New Zealand.The RSD-E Tug 2513 was built at Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam for owner Ports of Auckland. Norwegian maritime tech and equipment company Kongsberg Maritime (KM) will deliver a large technology package for Triumph Subsea Services' field development vessel (FDV).Triumph Subsea Services in December 2020 signed a contract with the Croatian shipbuilder Brodosplit for the construction of the vessel, with options to order three more.Kongsberg Maritime said Thursday it had signed a Letter of Intent with Brodosplit Shipyard and DIV Group in Croatia to deliver a large technology package for the vessel.

Wärtsilä will design and deliver a fully integrated main propulsion system for a new 8,200 dwt multipurpose cargo vessel being built for Mauritius Shipping Corporation Ltd (MSCL) at the Huanghai Shipyard in China.The newbuild is expected to commence commercial operations in 2022, replacing an existing vessel transporting goods and passengers between the Republic of Mauritius and the islands of Reunion, Agalega and Rodriquez.The order with Wärtsilä was placed in April 2020, and the equipment is scheduled for delivery to the yard in spring 2021.

Konecranes to Supply RTG Cranes to Tangier Port

Finnish manufacturer of cranes and lifting equipment Konecranes Oyj has won an order to supply a terminal at Tangier Med Port II with 16 Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes.The cranes will be delivered in batches with the last ones arriving by mid-July 2020. Shell Marine Launches New Lubricant

Shell Marine has introduced a new two-stroke engine cylinder oil specifically for use with engines running on 0.5% sulphur content very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) ahead of the IMO sulphur cap 2020.With a Base Number of 40, Shell Alexia 40 has been developed to optimise equipment performance and condition as ship owners and charterers prepare for the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO’s) 0.50% global sulphur limit for marine fuels in 2020.Shell Marine expects most of the world’s shipping fleet will aim to comply with IMO 2020 by switching to fuels with a sulphur content of 0.5% and below.“Shell Marine can help ship owners and charterers be prepared as the world moves to a low emissions future.
