American Equity Safety Awards Announced

The American Equity Underwriters, Inc. (AEU) 2011 Safety Awards were presented at the annual American Longshore Mutual Association (ALMA) Conference in Grand Cayman on July 30, 2012.   The awards are given each year to the best performing ALMA members nationwide and are based on the number of accidents and the severity of accidents for each calendar year. The award is an acknowledgement that these companies are leaders in the most important aspect of business operation – protecting employees from injury or death.  This is the one effort that should lead all others as businesses strive for improved results and better performance.    Three safety award winners are presented in both the marine cargo handling and shipyard industries:   Marine Cargo Handling: International Transportation Service, Inc. World Marine Earns SCA Safety Awards

World Marine, LLC has received the Shipbuilders Council of America’s (SCA) annual “Excellence in Safety” award as well as the “Improvement in Safety” award. SCA, the national association representing the U.S. shipyard industry, honors companies with annual safety awards for enhancement of operations and promotion of safety and accident prevention.    World Marine, LLC is one of 12 SCA member companies to receive awards for their continued advancement


Offshore Vessel Operators Gain International Safety Award

North Star Shipping gains International Safety Award from the British Safety Council North Star Shipping has received a prestigious international award from one of the world's leading health and safety training, advisory and audit bodies. Following rigorous assessment by an independent adjudication panel the British Safety Council has bestowed its International Safety Award on North Star Shipping for the eleventh consecutive year.


Double Triumph for Stork Technical Services

Stork Technical Services, a global provider of knowledge-based asset integrity management services for the oil and gas, chemical and power sectors, won two awards at this year’s U.K. Oil and Gas Industry Safety Awards. Marc Brankin, Scaffold Chargehand for Stork won The Most Promising Individual category. Stork and bSolutions at Banff and Buchan College jointly won the Innovation in Safety award for establishing an industry-first Temporary Refuge (TR) Testing City and Guilds

On July 29, 2013, The American Equity Underwriters, Inc. Goben Named First PVA Safety Award Recipient

Foss Maritime Vessels Amass Safety Awards

The Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA) says it has recognized Foss Maritime's commitment to safety by awarding Jones F. Devlin Safety Awards to 73 of the company's vessels for their outstanding safety records. The 2013 Jones F. Devlin award winners were recognized at the CSA Annual Safety Awards Luncheon held this year on May 29th in New Orleans. The award is given to self-propelled merchant vessels that have operated for two full years or more without a crew member losing a full turn
