CMM Selects ABS Asset Management Platform

Cooper Group Selects ABS for Sub M Services

ABS said it has been awarded a Third Party Organization (TPO) contract by the Cooper Group of Companies to support compliance with U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Subchapter M requirements. “ABS anticipated the needs that would surface when the Subchapter M regulations were published and allocated resources to develop a range of solutions,” said ABS Americas Division President, Jamie Smith. The newly signed contract establishes ABS as the exclusive Subchapter M TPO for Cooper Group and its subsidiaries, Crescent Towing, Cooper Marine & Timberlands and Plimsoll Towing.

NACD Selects ABS Quality Evaluations as Verifier

ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc. (ABS QE), a subsidiary of ABS Group, has been selected as a third-party verifier by the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD), an international association of chemical distributors and their supply-chain partners, for the sixth cycle of the organization's Responsible Distribution program beginning in 2017. For 25 years, NACD has implemented Responsible Distribution as a mandatory third-party-verified environmental, health, safety and security verification program. Kirby Selects ABS as Subchapter M Solutions Provider

Proactive effort shows commitment to safety and environmental protection. ABS, a provider of maritime shipping and offshore classification services, has been selected by Kirby Corporation to provide classification and International Safety Management certification for 11 push boats. Under the requirements proposed, but not yet enacted, by the United States Coast Guard, towing vessel companies will be required to receive a Certificate of Inspection and comply with a new set of regulations relating to the construction and operations of safety equipment and recordkeeping. The proposed regulation states that adoption of ABS class with ISM certification will show compliance with the new requirements.

Topaz Selects ABS Fleet Management Software

Offshore support vessel company Topaz Energy and Marine has selected ABS as its fleet management software provider. Topaz will install the ABS Nautical Systems Fleet Management Software suite on 58 of its core vessels to more efficiently plan for maintenance work, minimize downtime and reduce costs associated with drydocking. LNG America Selects ABS for LNG Bunker Barges

LNG America announces the selection of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) as the classification society for North America’s first LNG bunker barges, currently being designed by Jensen Maritime. ABS will assist LNG America in working with shipbuilders and regulators in developing these first-of-their-kind barges that meet or exceed all technical and regulatory requirements. “We are pleased to be working with ABS on this important domestic initiative. Reederei Claus-Peter Offen Selects ABS Nautical Systems

ABS Nautical Systems today announced that implementation of its NS5 Enterprise software suite has begun on Reederei Claus-Peter Offen’s fleet of container vessels. Based in Hamburg and one of the world’s largest suppliers of modern container tonnage, the company will be utilizing three modules from ABS Nautical Systems’ integrated software solution. Reederei Claus-Peter Offen purchased the Maintenance & Repair, Purchasing & Inventory and Voyage Management modules for its fleet of 103 vessels. These modules provide the tools to track maintenance expenses, upcoming drydocks and repairs, inventory replacement needs, fuel consumption and cargo operations across their entire fleet.

Formosa Plastics Marine Selects ABS Nautical Systems

ABS Nautical Systems announced that its fully integrated asset management software suite NS5 has been selected for trial by Formosa Plastics Marine Corp. (FPMC), part of the Formosa Plastics Group - the only privately owned Taiwan oil refinery and the second largest gasoline and gasoil producer in Taiwan. This new relationship marks the entry of ABS Nautical Systems into the Taiwan market and continues its expansion throughout Asia. FPMC will evaluate several modules from the NS5 software suite through the ABS Newbuild Program including Maintenance & Repair, Hull Inspection and Drawings Management. When making a decision to assess ABS Nautical Systems’ offerings, FPMC was particularly interested in the software’s capability for class integration with the ABS Eagle Survey Manager program.

Tidewater Selects ABS Nautical Systems

ABS Nautical Systems was selected by Tidewater Inc. to trial its fleet management software. With this partnership, ABS Nautical Systems intends to become Tidewater’s global fleet management software provider. Teekay Selects ABS Nautical Systems

ABS Nautical Systems has been selected by Teekay Corporation, which moves more than 10 percent of the world’s seaborne oil, as their fleet management software provider. Scheduled for a September 2003 release, the next major revision of the 3-D product modeling software for shipbuilding and offshore platforms from Albacore Research Ltd., ShipConstructor2004, will include a full Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning module (HVAC). HVAC is a fully integrated member of the ShipConstructor suite of Structure, Automatic and Manual Nest, NC Code generation, Outfit, Pipe, Fairing, and Lofting tools. To facilitate automatic report generation, HVAC makes full use of ShipConstructor's SQL Server product database. As with all ShipConstructor modules, HVAC is a full 3-D modeling package; this reduces drafting errors and time-to-production. With ShipConstructor, HVAC ducts are full-featured AutoCAD entities.

Seabulk Selects ABS-NS SafeNet

Seabulk Offshore Ltd., has selected ABS Nautical Systems SafeNet fleet management system for 14 supply, crew and utility boats operating in the US Gulf of Mexico. Fugro Gulf Selects ABS NS SafeNet Fleet Management Software

Fugro Gulf Inc., a leader in the provision of offshore geotechnical services, has contracted with ABS Nautical Systems for seven modules from their suite of advanced SafeNet fleet management system software. Fugro Gulf's contracted ship management company, New Offshore Inc., Morgan City, LA, will use the modules and manage vessel operational activities on behalf of Fugro Gulf Inc. Fugro Gulf Inc. has contracted for the Maintenance & Repair, Purchasing & Inventory Control, Replication Manager & Financial Reporting, ISM/STCW Compliance and Document Management modules of ABS NS SafeNet. 118-ft. Yacht Designed to Travel to 70 Knots

Three Vericor Power Systems' TF50 marine aeroderivative gas turbines have been selected to power the 118 Wallypower high-speed yacht being built by Intermarine Shipyard, Sarzana, Italy for Wally Yacht. This is Wally Yacht's first foray into high-speed power yachts, and the company's initial application of gas turbines. Wally Yacht, based in Monte Carlo, Monaco, is a world-renowned designer of high-speed sailing and power yachts. The 118-ft. yacht will feature three TF50 gas turbines in a Combined Diesel Or Gas (CODOG) turbine configuration. Two TF50s will be used as side or "wing" engines, with one small auxiliary diesel engine connected to each wing engine. The diesels will provide for very slow maneuvering only.
