Hua Hai Long Joins COSCO Shipping Heavy Lift Ship Pool

On February 1, COSCO Shipping Co., Ltd. signed a POOL agreement with Guangzhou Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport (GSBMT) in Guangzhou Ocean Plaza. According to the agreement, M.V. Hua Hai Long, the 30,000 DWT semi-submersible vessel of GSBMT, will come into service under the management of COSCO Shipping Co. COSCO Shipping aims to become the lead integrator in the global semi-submersible vessel market therefore they have initiated the first POOL model among the Chinese shipping companies. The new joint semi-submersible vessel MV Hua Hai Long is a 30,000 dwt newbuilding with a length of 182.2m, a width of 43.6m and a depth of 11m. The Vessel has a large deck area, advanced ballast system, and can handle a wide range of cargoes. With the joining of the M.V. Hua Hai Long, COSCO Shipping’s semi-submersible POOL has reached five vessels, giving them the capability of transporting small, medium and large offshore and onshore cargoes. Mr. Han Guo Min, CEO of COSCO Shipping, pointed out, “The capability of COSCO Shipping’s semi-submersible fleet has been strengthened, and COSCO Shipping has become the only Chinese company in the list of global semi-submersible transportation suppliers to receive a Green-class approval rating from Shell in regards to a HSE Management System audit. As the semi-submersible market changes, further cooperation and Pool will be a general trend.”


SCR Detailed Design Contract for 2H Offshore

2H Offshore Inc., an Acteon company, awarded a Steel Catenary Riser (SCR) detailed design project with LLOG Exploration Company. The scope of work includes the provision of detailed design of the production and export SCRs tied back to the Exmar OPTI-11000 semi-submersible for the Delta House field development. LLOG is currently developing the Marmalard and SOB2 fields in the Mississippi Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico which will both be tied back to the Delta House Floating Production


Jurong Gets $404M Semi-Sub Option

Jurong Shipyard said that SeaDrill Limited (SeaDrill) has exercised the option to build the second unit of the 6th generation ultra deep water semi-submersible drilling rig at a contract value of $404 million. Aker Kvaerner Awarded Drilling Equipment Contract with Daewoo

Aker Kvaerner has been awarded a contract with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd in South Korea for delivery of drilling facilities for an ultra deepwater semi submersible drilling rig ordered by an international drilling contractor. New contracts for Dockwise

Dockwise Shipping was awarded contracts for the transportation of one of the largest semi submersible drilling rigs and various floating equipment. Dockwise Shipping will transport the new build sixth generation semi submersible drilling rig Noble Dave Beard in 2009 as well as various floating docks and other equipment in 2008. The total value of the contracts is approximately $18m.  


Korean Shipyard Gets Orders for Two Liftboats

DSME gets new orders for two semi-submersible rigs for Norway's Songa Offshore & then charter by Statoil The orders were placed during the recent Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) held in Houston, U.S.A The value of this contract is approximately US$ 1.1 billion  and the rigs will be delivered in the middle of 2015. World’s Largest Dry Transport Vessel Delivered

Heavy transport shipping company Dockwise Shipping B.V. took delivery of the M/V Blue Marlin after her conversion into the world's largest semi-submersible heavy transport vessel able to carry heavy cargoes up to 73,000 tons. After a conversion of 3 months at the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan, South Korea the heavy transport vessel Blue Marlin has re-joined the Dockwise fleet with an increased deadweight capacity of 76,061 tons


New contracts for Dockwise

Dockwise Ltd. announced that three new contracts have been awarded to their subsidiaries Dockwise Shipping and ODL for the transportation of a semi submersible drilling rig, for the transportation of the hull of a production platform and for a FEED study of a jacket design respectively. Dockwise Shipping will transport the Noble Jim Day, a large sixth (6th) generation semi submersible drilling rig in 2009. The rig is currently under construction in Singapore

Singapore Shipyard to Get Accommodation Rig Contract

Norway's Prosafe (HQ in Cyprus) issues a 'Letter of Intent' for Jurong Shipyard to build a semi-submersible accommodation rig. The rig, which is of similar design as Safe Boreas presently in construction at JSPL, will be built to comply with Norwegian regulations.
