NORDEN Names New Head of Dry Cargo

Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S has hired Christian Vinther Christensen as new head of the Dry Cargo Department.   Christian Vinther Christensen takes up his new position January 1, 2017 and becomes part of Senior Management reporting to CEO Jan Rindbo.   He brings with him 16 years of experience from the dry cargo operator Western Bulk. He is shipping educated at Maersk, where he, prior to his employment at Western Bulk, for 10 years held a number of positions in the group including management positions in Maersk Broker.


Kane Appointed Pres. of Rolls-Royce Marine Electrical Systems Division

Rick Kane has been appointed as President of Rolls-Royce's new Marine Electrical Systems business. Kane was formerly President and Chief Executive of Raymarine Ltd, created when he led the management buy-out of Raytheon's recreational marine electronics business.A graduate in business studies from Suffolk University, Boston, MA, Kane initially spent nine years as a Supply Corp officer with the United States Navy before commencing his industrial career as a consultant with KPMG


FGH Tries To Shed Petrodrill Contracts

Friede Goldman Halter filed with the bankruptcy court a motion to reject the two contracts for the construction of the two Amethyst offshore drilling rigs for Petrodrill. The company, in a statement, said that these highly unprofitable contracts caused substantial losses to FGH, and led to the company's recent Chapter 11 filing. FGH has also taken further cost-cutting measures, announcing that all senior management members have taken substantial salary cuts, in come cases as high as 40%.
