Signal International has announced delivery of the MARMAC 304, the second new 300’ x 100’ x 20’ ABS ocean classed deck barge built for McDonough Marine Service by Signal’s Orange, TX Division this year. The barge was designed with an ABS load line maximum cargo capacity of 13,200 short tons and uniform deck strength of 4,500 lbs/sq. ft. It will be ready for charter through McDonough Marine Service in September and eventually will be fleeted in Amelia, La. “Using modular construction techniques we are capable of a highly efficient and cost competitive operation with unequaled quality. With these McDonough contracts we have demonstrated that we can achieve extremely aggressive schedules and control cost to a satisfied customer.” Patrick Slant, President of McDonough Marine Service, stated, “McDonough Marine Service is very satisfied with the quality of the product, responsiveness, and delivery. According to reports, Tugboats began towing Boomtown Casino's gambling barge to a dry dock in Pascagoula. The repairs at Signal International should take about three weeks, company officials said. Penn National Gaming, which owns Boomtown and Casino Magic Bay St. Louis, has committed to rebuild its Coast properties. Company executives are expected to release more information this week when they issue a quarterly earnings report and host a conference call.

A Chinese patrol ship searching for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 detected a pulse signal with a frequency of 37.5 kHz per second in the south Indian Ocean on Saturday, state news agency Xinhua reported. 37.5 kHz per second is currently the international standard frequency for the underwater locator beacon on a plane's "black box".
