Boat Show at Miami Beach Registered Strong Sales

Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami Beach – attendance, exhibitors, sales up Attendance at the recent Miami Beach Boat Show based on concession sales and number of people using show transportation at the free-to-the-public event, was up more than 7 percent. Most importantly, notably strong sales activity was reported by numerous builders including Fairline, Viking, Ferretti, Hatteras, Westport and Marquis and brokerages including Allied Marine, HMY and Merle Wood, among others. “The show was a tremendous success this year,” said Andrew Doole, senior vice president and COO of Show Management. “We had more exhibitor participation and the reports are of more qualified buyers than recent years, both signs of a strong industry and a strong show.” “This year’s Yacht & Brokerage Show was the busiest Miami show Denison Yacht Sales has ever had,” said owner, Bob Denison. “We introduced the Monte Carlo 76 to the U.S. market and our displays in TrawlerPort and at Beneteau Gran Turismo were slammed every day. Rob Scanlan, CMS/MMS/ACMS Accredited & Certified Marine Surveyor gives the following guidance on the new law regarding donated boats, yachts and ships: The new law states that the deduction value of a donated boat, yacht or ship is limited to the gross proceeds of a sale by the charity on the open market. There is however, exceptions to the gross proceeds rule which will allow you to deduct the fair market on the date it was donated. They are as follows:

Deborah L. Natansohn has been named president of Seabourn Cruise Line. Genmar Sells Hatteras Yachts to Brunswick

Genmar Holdings, Inc. announces that it has signed a definitive agreement to sell Hatteras Yachts, Inc. to Brunswick Corporation for approximately $80 million in cash. MTU Engines First Choice for Emirates Boatbuilder

MTU distributor Al Masaood and Arabian yacht builder Gulf Craft sign preferred partner agreement. Under the agreement, the Arabian shipyard Gulf Craft will soon offer MTU Series 2000 and 4000 engines in its Majesty Yachts as its primary engine option. The agreement was signed by Gulf Craft and Al Masaood, a Tognum Group distributor for MTU engines in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, at this year’s Dubai International Boat Show.

Trinity Yachts, LLC (Trinity) and International Yacht Collection (IYC) have announced today that they have signed a Letter of Intent for Trinity to acquire IYC. This acquisition will expand Trinity's capabilities and enable it to offer its clients the entire range of yachting services: new construction, repairs, brokerage, charter management, retail charter, yacht management, and crew placement. It is expected that the purchase should be completed by July 1, 2007.
