New Accreditations for A&P Falmouth

November 12, 2003

A&P Falmouth has earned two new accreditations, enforcing its position as one of the country’s leading ship repair facilities. Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI) has certified A&P Falmouth’s operations as conforming to the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001-1996 for environmental management and OHSAS 18001-1999 for occupational health & safety. Trevor Heath, A&P Falmouth’s Quality & General Services Manager, said that the latest certifications – which follow the yard’s achievement of the ISO 9001-2000 standard for quality management in August 2002 – not only makes A&P Falmouth the only ship repair yard in the country to have been awarded all three certifications, but is also a major milestone in the yard’s continuous improvement objectives. He commented: “This is the result of ongoing work to develop the management system at Falmouth over recent years, to achieve the highest recognised standard, but more importantly, gives a fully integrated system that encompasses and effectively manages all aspects of our business activities.” A&P Falmouth’s Managing Director, Peter Child, added that the company’s objective was to ensure that A&P was able to provide complete customer satisfaction within a safe and environmentally-friendly shipyard that meets the most rigorous standards. He said: “These systems’ approvals demonstrate that the necessary tools are now in place, enabling us to fully achieve this objective. It is extremely gratifying to be in the position of being the only shipyard in the UK that has the certification to prove that all aspects of our operation comply with the highest quality environmental and safety standards.”
