CSSC and DNV Open Joint Innovation Centre in Shanghai

Ammonia-fueled Car Carrier Design Gets DNV Nod

Classification society DNV said it awarded an approval in principle (AIP) certificate to Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) for its ammonia-fueled 7,000 CEU car carrier design.Ammonia is emerging as a promising alternative fuel option for shipping to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.SDARI's new ammonia-fueled pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) design is said to be the first from China. It design contains other clean features such as Shore Power, Battery/Hybrid, and NOx Tier III, to minimize emissions.

CSSC, DNV GL Deal for Futuristic Shipping

The largest shipbuilding group in the world, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), has entered into a new strategic partnership with DNV GL, the international accredited registrar and classification society headquartered in Høvik, Norway.A framework agreement between both parties was signed by Qian Jianping, Vice President of CSSC, and Norbert Kray, Regional Manager for Greater China at DNV GL – Maritime. AiP for 25000TEU LNG-Fueled Box Ship Design

The  international accredited registrar and classification society DNV GL awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) certificate to Hudong-Zhonghua for its new gas-fueled 25000TEU Ultra Large Container vessel (ULCS) design.The AiP is for a design that would be the largest containership in the world.Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen, CEO DNV GL – Maritime, presented the certificate to Chen Jun, President of Hudong-Zhonghua, at the CSSC booth in Shanghai. CSSC CMC Wins MED Certificates from DNV GL

The international accredited registrar and classification society DNV GL announced the award of three Marine Equipment Directive (MED) certificates to the China State Shipbuilding Corporation Marine Technology Co., Ltd. DNV GL, SUMEC Sign JDP for Bulker Design

New Dayang Shipbuilding, a unit of China's SUMEC Marine Company Ltd and the international accredited registrar and classification society DNV GL have agreed on a Joint Development Project (JDP) to update the Crown 63.5k Bulk Carrier design.The agreement, as part of the strategic cooperation agreement signed between SUMEC Marine Company  and DNV GL last year, was signed at the Nor-Shipping trade fair in Oslo.The JDP will include the application of the new harmonized common structural rules (HCSR) to the design, as well as a focus on improving the energy efficiency of the design, particularly in the ship board machinery and electrical systems.Additionally…

China to Build World's Biggest LNG Tanker

China's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding company and and classification society DNV GL have signed an agreement on the joint development of the world's biggest liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker.Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard and Classification society DNV GL have signed an agreement for a joint development project (JDP) for a new 270,000 m3 LNG carrier – the largest ever ship of this type, said a press release.The agreements were signed in Shanghai between Hudong-Zhonghua General Manager Chen Jun and DNV GL’s Regional Manager for Greater China, Norbert Kray.In recent years, China's LNG imports have been growing rapidly. Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard Delivers World's First iVLOC

Huangpu-Wenchong Shipyard Builds 200th DNV GL Classified Ship

Classification Steps Up to the Digital Challenge: DNV GL

The maritime world is in the middle of a period of rapid change, with increasing digitalization, new regulations and shifting markets. 500th Ship Receives ERS Classification

The Histria Perla is the 500th ship to receive ERS classification.
