Navico’s list of approvals received from the Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute of South Korea has grown following type approval of the latest generation Simrad MARIS ECDIS900 Mk 5 and Mk 15 Electronic Chart Display & Information Systems, joining already approved products such as Simrad Broadband 4G radars, ARGUS antennae, gyrocompasses, autopilots and control and display units. The integrated electronic navigation specialist has secured certificates warranting the new type approvals from KMERI for its IMO type-approved ECDIS navigation systems for use on board merchant vessels.

The Liberian Registry said delivery of Wreck Removal Convention certificates is now faster and more convenient for shipowners following the launch if its new online application system. The system was set up to expedite shipowners’ compliance with the requirements of the Nairobi International Convention on the Removal of Wrecks 2007 (WRC), which comes into force on April 14, 2015, requiring owners of vessels of 300 gt and above to carry a certificate as evidence of compliance that insurance or financial security is in place to cover their liability under the convention.

The oilfield procurement services company has been awarded a three year contract with BG in the North Sea worth between £3million and £4million. Maritime Information Systems AS, Norway (MARIS), a recognised Electronic Navigation specialist, has secured its first contract from the Hong Kong Marine Police. After an official tendering process, the company has been selected to supply 12 ECDIS Systems on board 12 existing patrol boats operating in waters around Hong Kong. MARIS worked with its agent Elekon Electrical Company to make several presentations to the HKMP Department and was selected after meeting all technical requirements. MARIS will provide its latest ECDIS Systems based on its 10th Generation Smartline MK-10 ECDIS 900 Systems with advanced features and latest hardware, including the Intel Core-2 DUO processor, solid state drives, etc.
