TankerTrackers.com Locates Seized Greek Tankers in Iranian Waters

Two Greek oil tankers seized by Iran last week are located in Iranian waters, monitoring service TankerTrackers.com said in a Twitter post on Thursday."We now have a visual confirmation that the hijacked Greek Suezmax tanker Prudent Warrior is in the anchorage of Bandar Abbas, Iran," the online service which tracks and reports shipments and storage of crude oil said in the post.The second vessel, the Delta Poseidon, also a Suezmax tanker, is being held north of Larak island, it added.Iran Urges Greece to Cooperate Over Seized Ships Without US RoleThe Iranian Revolutionary Guards' navy seized the two vessels on May 27 in the Gulf, after the United States confiscated oil from an Iranian-flagged tanker…

Yanmar to Provide SHIPSWEB Free of Charge

Epic Gas Switches to GNS and Voyager

GNS, the maritime technology company, has been awarded the contract to supply the fleet of Singapore-based Epic Gas Ship Management and its shore-based marine team with a complete navigation solution.GNS won the contract following a competitive tender during which Epic Gas ran extensive sea and shore-based trials over a six-month period evaluating solutions from three vendors. Key evaluation criteria were intuitiveness of the software and simplicity of the end-to-end service, which includes everything from route planning and monitoring through to the efficient transfer of ENCs to ECDIS for voyage execution.Capt. MAN Propulsion for 7 Russian Factory Trawlers

MAN Energy Solutions said it has won the contract to supply propulsion systems for seven new 109-meter factory trawlers for the Russian Fishery Company (RFC).The series’ lead vessel will be built by Tersan shipyard in Yalova, Turkey for scheduled delivery in July 2020. DEUTZ  launched a service portal for workshops, end customers and machine operators at www.deutz-serviceportal.com, giving its customers access to information and the easy ability to order genuine DEUTZ spare parts from its local service partners 24/7. The portal's ability to access the documentation for more than 1.5 million DEUTZ engines, and therefore to be the most up to date with regards to technical developments, is touted as a benefit, as it can display a list of spare parts to match each engine number, for example.

More Port Data Added to NaviPlanner

Nautisk’s NaviPlanner, a voyage planning solution which utilizes touch-screen functionality and cloud technology based on the Microsoft Azure platform, is set to be enhanced with the inclusion of more comprehensive port data following a new partnership with Shipping Guides Ltd. The integration of port information from Shipping Guides’ online service FindaportAPI will enable users to benefit from improved ports and port operations data. Stena Line Signs Up for MAN Online Service

MAN Diesel & Turbo recently signed a contract with Stena Line to provide its online service to two vessels. The Stena Hollandica and Stena Britannica are both conventional passenger-and-vehicle superferries that sail the daily route between the Hook of Holland and Harwich and are each powered by 4 × MAN 48/60CR engines. Dan Sten Olsson, CEO and owner of the Stena Sphere, and Bjarne Koitrand, Stena Line Technical Director, visited Augsburg, Germany to meet MAN Diesel & Turbo’s Dr Uwe Lauber, CEO, and Wayne Jones, Chief Sales Officer and agree the new deal.

Marlink Doubles Speed with Sealink VSAT Data Allowance

Marlink has doubled the burst speed on its Sealink VSAT services, enabling up to 3 Mbps for users on its data allowance packages, enabling faster Internet access and a smoother web browsing experience. New 40, 60 and 80 gigabyte (GB) data allowances have been introduced in parallel to the burst speed increase, enabling users with high bandwidth requirements to extend their smart shipping and crew welfare strategies with maritime VSAT network. Combined with the potential for faster Internet access, the new Sealink allowances enable significantly more capacity for smarter operational efficiency and enhance crew data communications while providing access to social media and web browsing.

MAN D&T, CCS Ink Collaboration Deal at Marintec

MAN Diesel & Turbo signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement with the China Classification Society (CCS) on December 1, 2015, during Marintec China 2015. The Agreement provides for the strengthening of the cooperation between the two companies in Intelligent Ship research with regards to data exchange, online monitoring and online service. Wayne Jones – recently appointed as Executive Board Member for Sales from January 1, 2016 – MAN Diesel & Turbo, and Sun Feng – Vice President – CCS, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies.

Maersk Line Starts New Direct Service from West Coast South America to Japan

Maersk Line has announced a new direct service with short transit time from West Coast South America to Japan for dry and reefer cargo. In our continuous efforts to provide our customers with a competitive and fast connection from West Coast South America to Japan, we will now offer a new short transit time service from San Antonio and San Vicente in Chile to Yokohama, Japan for both dry and reefer cargo. This service will also offer improved service time from Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru. CMA CGM to Inaugurate In-house University

The CMA CGM Group announced the opening of the CMA CGM Academy, its new in-house university, located in its Marseilles (France) headquarters. The first in-house university was launched years ago to make the group’s collaborators’ training a priority. Today, this priority is being reinforced with the CMA CGM Academy. With this new structure, the group’s collaborators will not only benefit from high-quality courses regarding shipping, but also different subjects such as management. Agent-Operator Collaboration Brought into Veslink

Veson Nautical announced the release of the Veslink Agent Portal, a new feature of Veslink, Veson Nautical’s online service that streamlines the collection and distribution of mission-critical maritime data. The Veslink Agent Portal enables port agents to submit Statements of Facts and Port Disbursements against nominated port calls. MAN Power & Propulsion Package for New Seismic Vessel

MAN Diesel & Turbo has contracted to supply 8L32/44CR B.2 engines as part of a complete propulsion package to power a seismic vessel ordered by GC Rieber Shipping of Norway. Four of the engines, along with 2 × 2-speed Flender Twin-In/Single-Out reduction gears and MAN Alpha Twin Screw CP propellers in AHT nozzles, will power the vessel which is classed as Ice Class 1A*. The vessel design is an ST 324 XT from Skipsteknisk of Aalesund, Norway whose hull will be constructed in Poland with outfitting subsequently carried out at the Myklebust shipyard north of Aalesund.

MAN Diesel & Turbo recently signed a contract for the supply of 8L32/44CR B.2 engines as part of a complete propulsion package to power a seismic vessel ordered by GC Rieber Shipping of Norway. The contract contains an option for an extra vessel. Four of the engines, along with two two-speed Flender Twin-In/Single-Out reduction gears and MAN Alpha Twin Screw CP propellers in AHT nozzles, will power the vessel. The seismic vessel is graded as Ice Class 1A*, which provides a good basis for operating in Arctic areas.
