Kongsberg Digital and Shell Marine Partner to Spur Decarbonization

Baltic Sea States Confer on Maritime Safety, Security

More and larger vessels will pass the Baltic Sea in the years to come, and therefore it is important to address the challenges for maritime safety which will follow in the wake of the increased vessel traffic. At a workshop in Helsinki, co-organised by the Danish Maritime Authority, the Baltic Sea States was for the first time jointly to develop scenarios for the maritime safety and security of the region. The joint challenges of the Baltic Sea States call for joint solutions. At the workshop, the Danish participants in cooperation with delegates from other countries tabled a number of issues relating to maritime safety. Improved surveillance or information exchange among the countries, which often requires joint decisions.

Hose Master Receives ABS Approval for Marine Applications

Hose Master, industrial manufacturer of metal hose and expansion joints, received American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Product Type Approval across its major braided metal hose product lines. This certification recognizes Hose Master as having the ability to fabricate hose assemblies with numerous fitting combinations to ABS standards for a wide range of marine and offshore applications. ABS has audited and certified Hose Master’s fabricating facilities to produce metal hose assemblies of the highest quality and safety, fabricated by over 50 ASME Section IX certified welders.

European Shipbuilding Regions Send Signal

A Joint Declaration by 33 regional governments on the future of the European shipbuilding industry was handed over to Prof. Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament, as well as representatives of the European Council, the European Commission and the President of the Committee of the Regions. Jointly, the 33 Regions consider the future of the European shipbuilding industry as a top priority for their economic development in the coming decades and share deep concerns related to the impact of the global shipbuilding crisis.
